2011-12 Fundraising and Funds Dissemination process/How it currently works

I think it would be useful, for the purposes of our discussions about fundraising and funds dissemination, to have a table that captures the current state of revenue generation inside the Wikimedia movement. The purpose of this table would be to provide a sense of how much money the movement is currently bringing in, and through what avenues. Sue Gardner 20:30, 24 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

  1. a b When we are totalling the amount of money the movement brings in annually, we will need to exclude this column, because it is not money that comes from outside the movement: it is an internal transfer
  2. Wikimedia Foundation revenues as per "statement of activities" from the audited financial statements of the Wikimedia Foundation, year ended June 30 2011. (July 1 2010 to June 30 2011) Total support and revenue were recorded as USD 24,785,092 (including $665,903 of net assets released from restrictions) plus $3,420,018 in temporarily restricted contributions, AKA grants, for a total of $28,205,110. I will also link to the audited financials as soon as they are published. Sue Gardner
  3. When we are totalling the amount of money the movement brings in annually, we will need to exclude transfers to the WMF from chapters which acted as payment processors, because that is an internal transfer rather than money coming in from outside the movement. Of the 19.3m in this cell, $3,086,388 was an internal transfer from chapters. This means that only $16,205,358 should be counted towards the movement total.
