  • What experience do you have participating on committees, within or outside the Wikimedia movement?
I have been advisor of the Affiliation committee in 2019. Participation in several grantmaking committee since 2015. Participation in several committee for the new strategy of WMF.
  • What skills, experience, or perspective would you bring or contribute to the committee, if appointed?
I am wikipedian since 2006 and founder of two chapters. I work regularly in strategies and planning and I bring several support to the governance. I have been in contact with several affiliates since 2006 and I know verry well the affiliatiated. As community manager I worked several times in conflict management.
  • Is there any other pertinent information that you would like us to take into account when reviewing your application?
I work for Wikimedia CH as Innovation programme lead at the moment but I have been also community manager for longtime. Previsously I worked in It governance and security.
  • Which sub-committee are you interested in working with (Conflict Intervention, Recognitions)?: Either - wherever there's a need for more sub-committee members
  • What do you think are the benefits and responsibilities of functioning as formal affiliates, and when is a group of Wikimedians ready to form an affiliate?
The recognition as affiliate gives mainly an official recognition as entity operating in one region or in a specific thematic area. This means a lot of responsibilities as this recognition can generate conflicts within a community if the affiliate is not collaborative and doesn't understand that the community is the main stakeholder. In this way the governance is quite important and mainly the transparency and the involvement of the local community. A group is ready to be an affiliate when it can assure that there will be a good rekationship with the community and with other entities in Wikimedia world and when they can assure a continuity in their activity.
  • Please describe your experience working with conflict resolution, and how you have helped build consensus and support diversity.
I worked a lot of years in community management and in conflict resolution mainly to find the real reasons of the conflict, to find a compromise and to build a consensus. Sometimes that has been a good procedure as soon the conflict is mature and exists for longtime. The best is to act quickly and appropriately.

Endorsements (Ilario)

edit
  1.   Oppose I would love to endorse Ilario, as he is clearly very experienced in the topic of affiliations. For now sorry, but I am not going to endorse anyone who applies for any role in WMF until they explicitly declare their commitment to the Wikimedia Foundation Guiding Principles (even if implicit commitment may be clear) or present a clear critique of them based on reasonable arguments and at least a basic proposal to improve the situation about the principles. If you answer my questions, I will wholeheartedly provide my endorsement. Thanks for understanding ;-) --KuboF Hromoslav (talk) 22:30, 13 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@KuboF Hromoslav Thank you a lot. Surely I declare my committment to these Guiding Principles even if in my opinion they miss an important point that is the "NO discrimination" on the basis of race, color, gender, religion, national origin, age, disability, sexual orientation, etc. in general the principle is present, but it would be nice to have a clear statement.
