editHey, be careful!! You erase one of my candidates (en:Roe), and also you ordering wrong with Hasekura Tsunenaga and pH indicator, the diference is in supporting votes: 15-4 = 11, 18-8 = 10; is simply, Hasekura win with 1 vote supporting more than pH. I wish that you don't realize more mistakes, specially erase candidates.--Taichi - (あ!) 01:01, 22 February 2006 (UTC)

editHello Ilario.
On this nomination you voted "against" because the only translations of the article were in Japanese and Chinese. An article in English was already created, so I think you can change your vote. Cheers, Tomer T 11:43, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
Striking your vote
editHello Ilario,
Thank you for your interest in the Wikimedia Board Election. The Election Committee regretfully informs you that your previous vote was received in error and will be struck according to the election rules, described below.
The Election Committee regretfully announces today that we will have to remove approximately 220 votes submitted. These votes were cast by people not entitled to vote. The election rules state that users must have at least 400 edits by June 1 to be eligible to vote.
The voter lists we sent to Software in the Public Interest (our third party election partner) initially were wrong, and one of your account was eventually included to our initial list. There was a bug in the edit counting program and the sent list contained every account with 201 or more edits, instead of 400 or more edits. So large numbers of people were qualified according to the software who shouldn't be. The bug has been fixed and an amended list was sent to SPI already.
Our first (and wrong) list contains 80,458 accounts as qualified. The proper number of qualified voters in the SPI list is now 52,750. As of the morning of July 4 (UTC), there are 2,773 unique voters and 220 people, including you, have voted who are not qualified based upon this identified error.
In accordance with voting regulations the Election Committee will strike those approximately 220 votes due to lack of voting eligibility. The list of struck votes is available at https://wikimedia.spi-inc.org/index.php/List_of_struck_votes.
We are aware of the possibility that some of the people affected may have other accounts with more than 400 edits, and hence may still be eligible to vote. We encourage you to consider voting again from another account, if you have one. If you have no other account eligible to vote, we hope you reach the criteria in the next Election, and expect to see your participation to the future Elections.
Your comments, questions or messages to the Committee would be appreciated, you can make them at m:Talk:Board elections/2007/en. Other language versions are available at m:Translation requests/Eleccom mail, 07-05.
Again, we would like to deeply apologize for any inconvenience.

Welcome to the IEG Committee
editHi Ilario,
Thanks for signing up to join the Individual Engagement Grants Committee! It is my pleasure to confirm your membership. We’ve got a lot to accomplish together, particularly during the next 6 weeks, and it will be awesome to have your help. Here is how to get started:
To make your membership official, please do 2 things by February 11th:
- Introduce yourself in the IdeaLab.
- Send your email address to IEGrants wikimedia.org, so that we can subscribe you to the committee mailing list.
Then there are 2 first tasks' for active committee members to start on right away:
- Review information in the Committee Workroom (your new organizing hub on meta), including responsibilities and the review process. Feedback and questions are very welcome at this stage.
- Start giving feedback on open ideas, drafts and proposals. Asking questions to gather information you’ll need to make a recommendation helps prospective grantees think their projects all the way through, and will give us more great proposals to choose from.
Our formal review of proposals starts February 22nd. I’ll be posting information about scoring and selection of proposals on the committee mailing list and in the Workroom soon, so please keep an eye there!
Thanks again for joining this new grantmaking program...I hope we’re going to see some amazing impact from these grants! :-) Siko (WMF) (talk) 06:04, 7 February 2013 (UTC)
Your comments are invited on four current FDC proposals
editHello! As you may know, we've opened the community review period for the current funding round in the Funds Dissemination Committee process. I noticed that in the past you expressed interest in the FDC, since you were a nominee for the committee. I'd like to invite you to review the 4 proposals (totaling $1.3 million USD) that were submitted to the FDC, and to ask questions and share comments about those proposals. You can help to ensure that they have high potential for impact regarding the movement's goals. The FDC especially values comments by community members and will take them into account when they prepare their recommendations. Let me know if you have any questions! --Katy Love, Senior Program Officer, Funds Dissemination Committee, Wikimedia Foundation, 22:36, 14 March 2013 (UTC)

Fundraising translation feedback
editHey Ilario, I have a bit of a request to ask from you. We pulled down our banners nearly a fortnight ago for what was a highly successful international fundraiser and brought the curtain down on last years fundraiser. This week however we will be changing payment processors and during the testing of the new system it would be useful to use the time productively on on testing banner text.
To help us out with this I wonder if you would be willing to help us improve our italian text using This Link
Simply follow the simple instructions on that page and if you have any questions feel free to contact me on my talk page.
We are going to run the test on tuesday so if you dont see this message till 24 hours after it was sent you can ignore me :) Many Thanks though.

English/Italian translations
editDear Ilario, I am contacting you to introduce myself. My name is Jessica Robell and I have recently joined the Wikimedia Foundation as a part of the fundraising team. My work will be focused to a large extent around translations. I am very interested in finding engaged Wikipedians, such as yourself, who would be interested in contributing with their time to translate shorter text from English to Italian. I know that you have been an active translator for the fundraising campaign previous years and I would be most grateful to get your support also this year. To begin with, we have for example recently put up a 'Thank you letter' from the Wikimedia Foundation's ED Sue Gardner for translation, using the translation extension. You can find the letter here: https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Translate&group=page-Fundraising%2FTranslation%2FThank+you+email+20131202&filter=&language=it&action=translate
Furthermore, in addition to using the translation extension, my aim is to develop a few personal contacts to whom I can reach out with potential questions regarding a particular word choice etc. As an engaged Wikipedia translator, I would be very interested in hearing your view on this.
Thank you very much for your support. I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards, Jessica Robell Global Fundraising Coordinator Wikimedia Foundation Jrobell (talk) 12:32, 2 January 2014 (UTC)
Recent grants
editHi Ilario,
regarding the Telugu grant, I guess many of us find these specific measures of success "overly optimistic" at least - however personally I think that such events (if executed properly) are vital to at least keep existing volunteer base.
Unfortunately, personally after the European parliament grant (which got funded despite of numerous concerns and voices of disaproval from GAC) I am starting feeling guilty while requiring antyhing from anyone. More recently we see some backlash against "these mundane people who keep requiring reports and numbers" both in GAC and FDC. Personally I am not happy with this direction and it was only the lack of free time that personally kept me from writing Asaf a longer personal stance, which I guess to owe both to the Movement and to myself.
My guess is that GAC, WMF and chapters people should meet and talk, just like it is called for FDC and "big chapters" people - but I don't know if it can be delivered. Personally I don't event know yet if I am on next conferences in Berlin or London and the same applies for many GAC people, I guess.
Best Regards,
aegis maelstrom δ 11:40, 28 January 2014 (UTC), WMPL.
- Aye,
- plus: responsibility is one thing (especially as the measures of failure are highly disputable - not to mention what to say in terms of the projects which could be actually delivered for, say, half of the funds?)
- second thing is the willingness to learn and improve - or the lack of it. For me, the GAC can be a process: not only a yes or no decision situation, but we can give our time to think over the projects together and make some learnings from each other (that was the purpose of meta, after all...). I believe the European Parliament might have been accepted by GAC members if only it had been reshaped according to the feedback and I believe it would be a better project then. Unfortunately, we really didn't get our shot here.
- Moreover, the process has been hurt. Now it will be pretty difficult to explain someone why they should bother or why some funding is denied. It is also some question of standards: as the guys mentioned, the volunteers of GAC are giving their personal time to improve the submissions - their time deserves some respect. Better submissions would be better. not just the more bold ones.
- And yes, everyone knows this is an advisory group with no firm power - however one shouldn't make it teethless as then the simplest question occurs: "why bother?" with writing a better grant, giving it a thought or giving your time in evaluating it.
- Community-driven evaluation can be a great opportunity to cross-audit, work out standards and priorities, share experiences etc. - but it needs to be "community-driven", not "a few Chapters' executives" driven. Certainly the chapter executive position gives a lot of experience, insight and a strong voice in the process: but it cannot be a situation that only the decision makers are evaluating themselves.
- I guess it is worth discussing as the present financing model is not stable anyway and will keep evolving.
- Maybe I should write some longer note. :)
- Best, aegis maelstrom δ 09:16, 29 January 2014 (UTC)

The Affiliations Committee is looking for new members. The committee's work requires communication with volunteers all over the World, negotiating skills and cultural sensitivity and the ability to understand legal texts. We try to get a healthy mix of different skill sets in our members.
Members are usually selected every twelve months for staggered two-year terms. The applications will be voted on by the current members not seeking re-election, taking into account comments put forward by the committee's members, advisers, WMF staff and board liaisons based on the membership criteria. A final decision will be made by the end of October 2014, with new members expected to join on or around 1 November 2014.
Please read the full call for candidates for more information, membership criteria, and details on how to apply.

Thanks by your comments and participation in my grant proposal regarding WLE2015 Brasil. I'm really sorry regarding the level of the discussions there. Centralnotice
editHi Ilario, please explain why you removed the Wikipedia writing week Brabant from the central notice calender [2]. This is the main activity in the Netherlands and Belgium during that week. Besides the new year meeting we have in utrecht on 16 January nothing in the NL/BE region is done about 15 years Wikipedia. If you want to help the Wikimedia movement in the Netherlands and Belgium, this is counterproductive. Sincerely, Taketa (talk) 10:59, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
- Ah yes, I see now. No problem. Bit of a mix up from my part too. I assumed you were starting a global initiative because you had copied the one by JSutherland as well and added it. I removed the double one [3]. If it was your intention to also add this one, feel free to undo my action. All the best, Taketa (talk) 11:13, 11 January 2016 (UTC)
Inspire Campaign on content curation & review
editI've recently launched an Inspire Campaign to encourage new ideas focusing on content review and curation in Wikimedia projects. Wikimedia volunteers collaboratively manage vast repositories of knowledge, and we’re looking for your ideas about how to manage that knowledge to make it more meaningful and accessible. We invite you to participate and submit ideas, so please get involved today! The campaign runs until March 28th.
All proposals are welcome - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is welcome - your skills and experience can help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign to improve review and curation tasks so that we can make our content more meaningful and accessible! I JethroBT (WMF) 05:39, 29 February 2016 (UTC)

Request for Input - New Central Notice request process
editHello fellow CN admin!
Back in February I emailed the CN-admin list regarding part of my role to look into the Central Notice process and see where we could make improvements including: the campaign process; its functionality or lack thereof; and fundamentally the documentation that supports it. You can see many of the issues that I identified at CentralNotice/Process_Review. If there is anything additional that you feel has been left out then please feel free to leave any comments on the talk page.
My first task is to improve the requesting of campaigns by communities and affiliates. I am looking to set up a more formal request process, similar to those used in many projects. The aim is to: increase the transparency of Central Notice; improve the support provided to affiliates (including making such support more consistent); to provide a forum for community input into campaigns.
I have been working on a very rough strawman version of the process and I would be interested in hearing you comments about what such a process should involve and what you think it would require. Please feel free to leave such comments at the process talk page section. I would like to have a working page in place by the end of May. This would not need to be a final version. The process can be improved upon over time as we learn about how well it works.
I encourage you to:
- Review the strawman request page and request template and make changes as you feel necessary
- Leave comments
- Join the centralnotice-admins mailing list
- Feel free to contact me to discuss this further via: my talk page, jseddon wikimedia.org or on IRC (Nick: Seddon)
Regards

WLE CH CentralNotice
editHi. I see that you have created the campaigns for Switzerland. Thank you! But there are some questions about them I have. Do you really want to use that standard design? You could take a look at c:Commons:Wiki Loves Earth 2016/CentralNotice where you can choose a design with WLE logo in it. Also, is there any particular need for using 4 banners and 4 campaigns with hardcoded text instead of one translatable? (Sorry I really do not know whether you do not know how to do the latter or chose the way it is for a better reason). --Base (talk) 03:39, 30 April 2016 (UTC)
Through June, we’re organizing an Inspire Campaign to encourage and support new ideas focusing on addressing harassment toward Wikimedia contributors. The 2015 Harassment Survey has shown evidence that harassment in various forms - name calling, threats, discrimination, stalking, and impersonation, among others - is pervasive. Available methods and systems to deal with harassment are also considered to be ineffective. These behaviors are clearly harmful, and in addition, many individuals who experience or witness harassment participate less in Wikimedia projects or stop contributing entirely.
Proposals in any language are welcome during the campaign - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is appreciated, and collaboration is encouraged - your skills and experience may help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign so that we can work together to develop ideas around this important and difficult issue. With thanks,

Hello, You enabled the banner for both logged in and logged out users. The banner is just in english, but the banner is enabled for all IT and CH users on muntiple platforms (wp, commons, etc.). It is really necessary to enable the banner for logged out users as well? Where has this been discussed? --Steinsplitter (talk) 14:45, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
- I would like to join in the question. Besides if you really need to do something like that, you should at least make the banner translatable and leave the link to translate unhidded. I think it is at least 2nd if not 3rd time I fix your banner with this problem. --Base (talk) 19:50, 16 June 2016 (UTC)

Welcome to the Project Grants Committee
editHi Ilario,
Thanks for signing up to join the Project Grants Committee! It is my pleasure to confirm your membership. We've got a lot to accomplish together, particularly during the next 2 months, and it will be awesome to have your help. Here is how to get started!
To make your membership official, please email mjohnson wikimedia · org by Sunday, August 14, and include the following three pieces of information:
- Your preferred email address for the committee mailing list
- Your preferred username for the committee's scoring tool
- Indicate all of the times from this list that would work for you to participate in a Committee Orientation:
- if none of the above times work for you, please provide at least two times that would work for you (be sure to indicate the date and the time zone)
Then, there are 2 first tasks for active committee members to start on right away:
- Read the information in the Committee Workroom (your committee organizing hub on meta), beginning with the getting started guide for new members.
- Start giving feedback on open proposals. Ask questions or make suggestions on the proposal talk pages to gather information you’ll need to make a recommendation. Your input helps prospective grantees think their projects all the way through and helps other committee members with their own review. The more you can support applicants now, the stronger the proposals we'll have to choose from.
The general calendar for this round is as follows:
Round 1 2016 schedule
Open call: 1 July – 2 August
Proposal deadline: 2 August
Staff eligibility review: 3–9 August
Community review: 10–23 August
Committee review: 24 August – 6 September
Grantees announced: 7 October
Grants disbursed: October
Our formal review of proposals starts on August 24. WMF staff will be posting information about scoring and selection of proposals on the committee mailing list, so please keep an eye there!
Thanks again for joining us to help make impactful Project Grants! :-)

Share your experience and feedback as a Wikimedian in this global survey
editHello! The Wikimedia Foundation is asking for your feedback in a survey. We want to know how well we are supporting your work on and off wiki, and how we can change or improve things in the future.[1] The opinions you share will directly affect the current and future work of the Wikimedia Foundation. L'idea è un UG di livello europeo almeno sulle lingue minori. Europeo perché sono già abbastanza integrate fra di loro, poi al limito lo amplieranno dopo le utenze.

[Wikipedia & Education User Group] Updates: November 2018
editGreetings,
Integrating Wikimedia with education is a powerful strategy for the outreach of Wikimedia projects. Realising this concept, a group of leaders promoted this and formed the Wikipedia Education Collaborative. After some time, this evolved to become a user group, officially recognised by the Affiliations Committee in June 2018. The user group had its first board elections earlier in September. In the process to formalise activities and give a shape the user group for long-term sustainability, we are now revamping our processes. Thanks for supporting us during incubation stages, we are now inviting you to formally join the user group by following the instructions on the members' page. Being a member will allow you to be a part of this wonderful collaboration and also do interesting stuff.
Kind regards

I fixed them in the translation tool CNBanner:Int Archives Day 2019-text 2/de and CNBanner:Int Archives Day 2019-text 1/de, but the changes are still not visible (maybe it has no effect at all, no idea). I see there's an option to delete the frontend cache, would you please try to update the banner texts please? We had several people complaining at different places, and it took me some time to understand who is in charge for this banner. Thanks. Queering Wikipedia 2023 conference
editWikimedia LGBT+ User Group and the organizing team of Queering Wikipedia is delivering the Queering Wikipedia 2023 Conference for LGBT+ Wikimedians and allies, as a hybrid, bilingual and trans-local event. It is online on 12, 14 and 17 May, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia #IDAHOBIT, with offline events at around 10 locations on 5 continents in the 5-day span as QW2023 Nodes.
The online program is delivered as a series of keynotes, panels, presentations, workshops, lightning talks and creative interventions, starting on Friday noon (UTC) with the first keynote of Dr Nishant Shah entitled: I spy, with my little AI — Wikiway as a means to disrupt the ‘dirty queer’ impulses of emergent AI platforms. Second keynote is at Sunday’s closure by Esra’a Al Shafei, Wikimedia Foundation’s Board of Trustees vice chair, entitled: Digital Public Spaces for Queer Communities.
If you have been an active Wikimedian or enthusiast, supporting LGBT+ activities or if you identify as part of the larger LGBT+ community and allies in Wikimedia, please join us in advancing this thematic work. We encourage you to join online or in person with fellow Wikimedians if it is easy and safe to do so. Our working languages are English and Spanish, with possible local language support at sites of Nodes.
Registration for the online event is free and is open until Wednesday May 10th at 18:00 UTC, for safety protocol. Late event registration approval and event access denial is at the discretion of organizers.
More information, and registration details, may be found on Meta at QW2023
Thanks, from Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 19:21, 8 May 2023 (UTC)

Art+Feminism: Feb 15 online edit-a-thon campaign launch and upcoming conversations
editWe have some exciting events coming up that we’d love to share with you!
At Art+Feminism, we believe that as feminist editors, our strength is in collective action. When we edit together, we share resources, knowledge, and skills; in doing so, we form a defense against harassment within the Wikiverse and beyond. Alongside our initiatives to close diversity gaps and create a safer Wikipedia, Art+Feminism remains committed to doing our part. This year that includes creating more virtual spaces for us to connect with one another, share knowledge, and edit together.
To start, join Art+Feminism and Wiki Editoras Lx on 15 February to discuss and practice strategies for collective editing. This event kicks off our series of virtual editing tables for our Year 11 campaign. You can see our full schedule here and register today.
We’ll also be hosting two special conversations: Online & On the Ground: Abortion Activism in Maryland and Collective Imagination + Radical Futures: Kansas City Organizers on Making Art & Building Power. These online events are open to all and we hope to see you there!
If you’d like to join the campaign by hosting your own A+F event but haven’t yet, it’s not too late! You can view our campaign resources here and send us an email to let us know you’re joining.
