Africa Growth Pilot/Online self-paced course/Module 2/Contributing graphics skills

So like I said, we saw a number of ways of contributing -- I hope at least one of them was new to you -- to Wikimedia, that absolutely all of you could contribute in, if you like.

I just want to mention more briefly, some other ways of contributing that are maybe not relevant to all of you, depending on your skills. I'll just mention them. And again, there are links to tutorials and information pages for each.

So if you have graphics skills, if you know your way around programs like GIMP or Photoshop or Lightroom or Inkscape or other kinds of advanced graphics or photo processing programs, you can help out in this way, using your graphics skills.

For example, on Commons, we have a page called the Graphic Lab. And in that page there is a division into several workshops. There's an illustration workshop. If you have a good drawing hand, you can create illustrations that are needed on Wikipedia or elsewhere. Go to the illustration workshop and see what people are asking for. Maybe you can help. There's a Map workshop, if you're into maps. If you're into photography or retouching or restoring old photos, there are pretty sophisticated tools these days. *I* don't know how to restore a photo digitally, but maybe you do. And you can really help with all kinds of old historical photos that you can restore.

There is this page, which I'm assuming most of you didn't know existed, and it is this little corner of Commons where this very specialized work gets done. My point here is to literally just open the window, show you this thing exists.

If you are a graphics professional, or someone you know is a graphics professional and may be interested in volunteering in this way, that is quite different from writing encyclopedic articles! You should know it exists and you should click the link on the slide and explore.
