edit- Strong support. Traditional international competition. It has been running for over 8 years. During the competition, it is possible to obtain unique and high-quality photographs that illustrate thousands of articles about various fields of science.--Ctac (talk) 08:43, 20 March 2023 (UTC)
- Strong support. Best Wiki-Science Photo contest since 2015. Great result thanks to newcomers. — Niklitov (talk) 14:56, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
- Strong support. More important than ever for Wikimedia Strategy. On top of the above, the banner is itself an outreach to readers from Russia, demonstrating that Russian entity partnerships with the local and international Wikimedia community is still possible and acceptable, as well as the fact that Wikimedia projects are open to and welcoming Russian citizens' engagement and contribution. --Frhdkazan (talk) 17:28, 2 April 2023 (UTC)

edit- 2022 campaign —DerHexer (Talk) 21:35, 21 March 2023 (UTC)
- @JukoFF: I've created campaign and banner. I've set it to run only on English, Russian and Tatar Wikipedia because the landing pages are also only available in these three languages. Please let me know when more translations are available. Please check the settings of campaign and banner, have a look at the preview. As soon as you approve the campaign, I can activate it. Please ping me. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 18:30, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- A banner in three languages will be enough. I looked it all up, it all works right. It's safe to run. Thank you very much. JukoFF (talk) 21:18, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- @DerHexer:. JukoFF (talk) 21:20, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- Enabled. —DerHexer (Talk) 21:22, 13 April 2023 (UTC)
- @DerHexer: On the page campaign Unfortunately, the date of the end of the banner is wrong, it says April 2, and should be May 31. Please put the correct date of May 31. JukoFF (talk) 09:58, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- Woops, fixed. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 10:02, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
- @DerHexer: We need your help again! Unfortunately, the banner was never shown to anyone after it was turned on. As we found out, the reason is that the Wikimedia Foundation has disabled geo-targeting for Russia and Belarus at the statistics server. However, it is impossible to hold a photo contest without a banner. Please change banner display settings to not use geo-targeting at all. Configure to show the banner to all non-registered users only in the Russian and Tatar Wikipedias (no need to show in the English Wikipedia). JukoFF (talk) 09:08, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Seddon: Does this work for you and the RU block campaign? —DerHexer (Talk) 10:50, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- @DerHexer: No. This is a new problem. Geolocation for Russia and Belarus stopped working in 2023, and that campaign was in 2022. For example, look at the strange statistics on the number of Russian Wikipedia editors. Due to a broken geo-location, it says that supposedly no one from Russia and Belarus edits the Russian Wikipedia. However, in fact, there are 75-80% of editors from Russia and about 5-10% from Belarus. Please put a banner without geo-location at all, because it does not work for Russian IP addresses.--Ctac (talk) 19:25, 5 May 2023 (UTC)
- @DerHexer: I will clarify. In 2003, the Foundation added Russia to the list of protected countries. As I understand it, technically they simply removed the country IP address ranges from the geo-location database so that it would be impossible to determine the country of such editors and readers. However, this approach leads to many technical problems. The crippled geo-targeting has broken the system of statistics and the CentralNotice system. The solution for 35 countries in the list is to show the banner not by geo-location, but by the language of the project. P.S. The 2023 Science Photo Competition Russia runs from the beginning of April to the end of May. And the banner has never shown up yet! Please, turn it on for Russian Wikipedia!--Ctac (talk) 06:49, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
- @JukoFF and Ctac: I've changed the settings as suggested. Please check if they are running now. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 16:17, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
- @DerHexer: Thank you! But nothing is shown. It looks like you haven't assigned a banner to display.--Ctac (talk) 18:51, 9 May 2023 (UTC)
