Description - Wikimedia Bangladesh and Bangla (Bengali) wikipedia community is working together to host an article contest on the occasion of International Mother Language Day. The occasion (Language Movement and the month) itself has the significant meaning to the Bengali speaking people so we believe it'll be a great opportunity to promote Bangla Wikipedia to the readers and have some of them on board with this contest. During the contest participants will be asked to translate a complete article from this list into Bengali. The reason for central notice is that we simply want to reach broader Wikimedia users from this region to see the contest as they mostly use English language version of Wikimedia projects rather than Bangla.

Metrics - Last year's contest attracted 917 users (80% new) and they created 520 articles.

What banner(s) will you use? What will be your landing page?

To CN admin: From last year, MediaWiki:Centralnotice-template-WMBN translateathon 2017, MediaWiki:Centralnotice-WMBN translateathon 2017-text1, MediaWiki:Centralnotice-WMBN translateathon 2017-text2. We are hoping to continue this contest every year so perhaps we can exclude year from the title and use them every year? ~ Nahid Talk 17:25, 25 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
