What countries will your campaign target?

What is the purpose of the campaign? How will you measure the success of the campaign?
editDescription - The purpose of this campaign is to recruit experienced contributors to volunteer in CivilServant's Wikipedia Gratitude Study. In the study, participants will complete two brief surveys and be asked to contribute to Wikipedia in one of a number of ways, for example reviewing content, rating a revision or interacting with other Wikipedians. Users who click on the banner will be sent to a page in their language that describes the experiment in further detail and directs them to the study where they can consent to participate.
Metrics - We are simply seeking to get many people to sign-up, so we are hoping just to optimize click-through-rate.

What banner(s) will you use? What will be your landing page?
editBanners - To be designed. At the time of this writing I do not have rights to create a banner.
Landing Page - We will create a landing page, one for each of our target languages, that will contain an external link to sign up with CivilServant. Please note two things: 1) we are using this link-to-link method to comply with the fact that banners should link to within the Wikimedia universe, and 2) our experiments are conducted with deep community partnership and have found community-wide consent to conduct the experiments.

Is this project grant funded? Please provide a link
editType of grant - Not funded by WMF, but CivilServant is a grant-receiving non-profit organization.

editDeclined with note by WMF - @Maximilianklein: - Research requests like this should be directed to the research team who can be contacted via: https://research.wikimedia.org/contact.html Seddon (WMF) (talk) 10:04, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Seddon (WMF), Thank for responding to this CentralNotice request. Can you please explain why you are redirecting me to research? CivilServant's_Wikimedia_studies have already received community approval (on de, fa, ar, and pl wikis), and have been working closely with the research team. Now we are trying to advertise the experiment. We are close to finishing our banner. Actually that is a point I had a question on: I don't have permissions to edit Special:CentralNoticeBanners so once the development is done, how, or whom, may I contact to get the banner design added? And finally what more specifically is needed by you to approve this request? Maximilianklein(CS) (talk) 17:43, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Maximilianklein: - You currently do not have a formal collaboration with the research team according to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Wikimedia_Research/Formal_collaborations. I see you are working with Aaron Halfaker. The issue is that currently there is no precedent for third party organisations outside of the Wikimedia movement to use CentralNotice irrespective of whether or not there is community consensus. As such I need to consult with our legal team. There may be a need for a legal agreement to be drafted up between WMF and CivilServant. I'll definitely need to see banner designs, landing pages (both on wiki and off wiki) and sign up forms. Potentially other information. Do you have a contact email address? Seddon (WMF) (talk) 04:26, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
- @Seddon: It appears that our MOU with the Foundation may not have been documented on the list of formal collaborations and are now investigating how that may have come to pass. We have followed up via email with Seddon with the details of the study and of our agreement and are hopeful about our ability to work through this question.
