Description - This campaign aims to promote the Wikidata Community Survey by the Wikidata Development Team at Wikimedia Deutschland. The survey explores contributor demographics and experiences to better understand community diversity and the various ways to support their needs.

Metrics - We conducted a shorter version of the survey in 2021, which received about 900 responses. For this survey, we don't have specific metrics but are aiming for 500 responses.

What banner(s) will you use? What will be your landing page?

edit
Banners - The banner preview (banner) includes a brief survey description, links to different language versions of the survey, and a privacy statement wiki page.

Landing Page - The banner will link to different language versions of the survey and a privacy statement wiki page, which will provide information on data handling and the background of the survey questions. Both the survey and the wiki page are in progress, and the links will be added later.

Demographics

edit

Can someone describe what categories or levels of demographics will be collected in the survey, if any? (Country, Job Role, etc.) or maybe better yet, provide the privacy page link now that describes what demographics are being proposed to collect? --Thadguidry (talk) 15:25, 19 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your feedback @Thadguidry. The privacy statement page text, which includes background information about the questions, is currently under review. We will publish it soon at Wikidata:Usability and usefulness/2024-Community-Survey and send a notification to the Wikidata mailing list.
In the meantime, I can share that we plan to ask for the following information: country, native language/language most fluent in, age group (in 10-year increments), gender identity, employment status, and highest level of formal education completed.
All questions, including demographic ones, are optional, and the survey is anonymous by default. Results will only be published in aggregated form. Details about data handling will be included on the privacy statement page and in the survey's introductory text on the survey platform. - Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 16:23, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! Thadguidry (talk) 02:32, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@TAndic (WMF) fyi. I think you've already been informed about this WMDE survey, but just to make sure :) --Johannnes89 (talk) 09:16, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks @Johannnes89! Yes, I've been coordinating with @Daria Ammalainen (WMDE) and the survey is approved on my side :) - TAndic (WMF) (talk) 14:10, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As discussed offwiki I will take care of the campaign once you've provided the banner --Johannnes89 (talk) 07:46, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've now included the banner preview link, as well as a link to our privacy statement page too. -Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE) (talk) 08:26, 4 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
