Display default/recommended values at Special:Preferences
Problem: At Special:Preferences, it's impossible to know which settings you have changed away from the default (or have acquired a new default value since you signed up) without doing a full reset.
Who would benefit: All editors who like to customize their settings, and particularly longer-term editors who may not be aware that some settings have acquired new default values.
Proposed solution: Show some kind of default indicator, as mocked up by Quiddity.
Support Yes, and show options that have changed by developers or been added since the last time that preferences page was changed by the user. — SMcCandlish ☺☏¢ >ʌⱷ҅ᴥⱷʌ< 07:02, 15 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Support I've had occasion to be flummoxed by a bug, where I didn't encounter it until _long_ after I'd modified the troubling setting. I had to reset everything first in order to find the bad setting. And of course then had little enough idea what the _other_ setting I'd changed were. Simple flags on modified settings would have made it much easier. Shenme (talk) 02:11, 18 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Weak support per Sänger; stronger support if an overview of one's settings that have been changed from the default is included —2d37 (talk) 09:17, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
