Digital newspaper archive
From 1600 to 1923 there are 300 years of now public domain newspapers, but usually they are not easily accessible.

Project description | Projects for newspapers in public domain. |
There are some websites with archives of historical newspapers like these (after google search):
But they are all sites that require a subscription and money to view the archives.
There are some university databases, but they are available only to their students (after a brief google search):
- http://www.unimi.it/ateneo/sba/banchedati/elenchi/ahm.htm
I propose high resolution scans of integral newspapers and searchable full text articles and titles.
Maybe these already available digital scans can be hosted in the mediawiki servers and they can be made accessible to anyone.

editI am not aware if any similar project proposal, but it has probably already been proposed, cause this concept is nothing really original.
Wikisource has some newspaper articles, but they are only articles of important events.
Wikimedia Commons has very few scan of old articles.
Maybe this can be a subproject of both Wikimedia Commons and Wikisource and not a new project?
