Event:WTS2024

The 3rd Wikimedia Technology Summit (WTS 2024) is dedicated to leveraging technology to narrow the gap within Wikimedia projects. Our objectives include finding solutions to integrate marginalized communities and languages into these projects, while also fortifying their technical infrastructure. This summit focuses on using technology to bridge the gap in Wikimedia projects and communities. We will explore solutions for including underrepresented communities and languages while strengthening the technical backbone of these projects. By encouraging collaboration between developers, users, and researchers, we aim to solve challenges and make knowledge more accessible in diverse languages. We will also discuss advancements in Wiki technology and exploring ways to increase technical participation from students and Wikipedians from India.This event is organized by the IndicWiki project at IIIT Hyderabad.

The Wikimedia Technology Summit 2024 successfully took place from October 3 to 5, 2024, drawing an enthusiastic gathering of technologists, developers, and volunteer contributors of Wikimedia projects from all over the country. Hosted by the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad with support from Indic MediaWiki Developers User Group and the Wikimedia Foundation, the summit had a one-day Hackathon on the IIIT Hyderabad campus and the summit at Hotel Hyatt Gachibowli. The summit gathered 130 attendees from across India to discuss the latest trends and innovations in open-source technology and Wikimedia projects.
