Living Heritage

In the February we started preparation for ongoing Wiki Loves Living Heritage. The state page on meta Wiki Loves Living Heritage/Intangible Cultural Heritage of North Macedonia is ready. We are in contact with the Directorate for protection of Cultural Heritage in Macedonia to get a list of living heritage and to arrange further activities with them.

Campaign for rare diseases

As a sign of support for people struggling with rare diseases, the national campaign "Introducing Rare Diseases 2023" started. For the fifth year in a row, Wiki Club Ohrid is dedicating the month of February to enriching the content as well as editing Wikipedia articles in the Macedonian language to raise awareness about rare diseases under the slogan "So that those who know about rare diseases are not rare". Wikipedia in the Macedonian language has been enriched with 28 new editorial articles, all with the aim of raising awareness about people affected by a rare disease, but also about the problems they and their families face.

Training of students from high school Nikola Karev - Skopje

Twelve students from the Nikola Karev high school from Skopje received training in editing Wikipedia articles in the Macedonian language. On 06.02.2023, twelve students from first, second and third year, received training on how to edit Wikipedia articles under the mentorship of music education teacher Emilia Ristanovska. The trainers of the training were: Elena Krsteva, Frosina Dimitrova and Snezhana Shtrkovska.

Wiki Club Negotino

On February 13, 2023, in the premises of the primary school "Strasho Pindzur" - Negotino, we opened a new Wiki club.

13 students from the seventh and eighth grade received training on editing Wikipedia articles in the Macedonian language. Immediately, each of them made their own article confirming their interest in useful volunteerism.

The trainers of the students were Elena Krsteva and Frosina Dimitrova who presented the activities, future and past projects of Glam Macedonia and trained them to edit Wikipedia articles in the Macedonian language.

The coordinator of the Wiki Club Negotino, Angelche Koshev, emphasized that this type of professional and inter-student cooperation is more than necessary. He stated that he is satisfied with the interest of the students and believes that this number of students will increase, interest would grow.

Training of students from high school Josip Broz Tito- Skopje

Twelve students from high school the Josip Broz from Skopje received training in editing Wikipedia articles in the Macedonian language. On 23.02.2023, twelve students from first and second year, received training on how to edit Wikipedia articles under the mentorship of historical education teacher Irena Shetrjovska - Trajkovska. The Training was held in our offices. The trainers of the training were: Elena Krsteva, Frosina Dimitrova.

Edit-a-thon - Skopje ZOO

On the occasion of the upcoming celebration of the wildlife day, on 24.02.2023 (Friday) Glam Macedonia in cooperation with The zoo in Skopje organized an interesting activity - edit-a-thon marathon for the students of the "Josip Broz Tito" SUGS from Skopje. The event took place in a wonderful atmosphere where the students were first walked and got to know the animals around the Zoo with specialized educator and employee of the institution. Then their task was to create articles about animals that are missing in the Macedonian language on Wikipedia. 12 students wrote and supplemented articles on topics such as White-headed warbler, Antelope, Tuatara, Lemur, Green sea turtle, Brown rat, etc., creating 17 new articles in the Macedonian language on Wikipedia. The event lasted three full hours, followed by lots of education, fun, and writing. We hope that the students enjoyed this activity and we hope that in the future we will have many more interesting activities of this type.
