If you are interested in participating

edit

If you have an interest in participating in this year's pre-conference workshops on program design, evaluation, and community learning, this year you will be able to share that interest on the main conference registration form.

On that form you will be asked to share the extent to which are you interested and able to participate in workshops on in advance of main conference.

You will be asked to share which three topics from the following list of potential topics are most relevant to your current Wikimedia work.

  • Best Practice Exchanges with other Leaders (e.g., Lightning Talks, Creative Problem Solving)
  • Community Insights (e.g., Survey Design, Community Sampling, Listening Tools)
  • Designing Wikimedia Programs and Events (e.g., Program Toolkits, Creative Program Design, Workshop Design)
  • Engaging and Retaining Volunteers (e.g., Participatory Engagement Strategies, Communications & Social Media)
  • Measuring and Evaluating Impact (e.g., Logic Models, Outcome Mapping, Data Analysis, Metrics)
  • Project Planning (e.g., Designing SMART proposals, Setting goals and targets, Project management)
  • Project Support (e.g., Grants, Partnerships)
  • Telling your Community Story (e.g., Reporting & Storytelling, Infographics & Data Visualization)
  • The Wikipedia Library
  • Wikipedia Education Program
  • Other (please specify): ______________________

Participation formats

edit

We are looking to level up our participatory workshop model again this year by engaging even more participant presenters and working to better enable folks to bring back what they learn to their home communities through design. For this reason, the form also asks a couple new questions to learn which potential participants might be interested in participating as a presenter for any of the potential topics.

Let us know if you would be interested in sharing a 3-5 minute lightning talk and/or helping as a co-presenter and the extent to which you would like to be able to bring the pre-conference content home to your community.

For an idea of what these volunteer commitments may look like:

Share a Lightning Talk: Share with your peers something inspiring about your project experience. Give a 3-5 min talk and share:

  • Share what you did
  • How you measured success and
  • What you learned
  • Estimated Preparation Time is 1-3 hours.

Volunteer as a co-presenter on a particular topic: Work with the planning team to develop a workshop session process and content for sharing knowledge with your peers.

  • Share your experience in applying learning topic in your own work
  • Help to highlight wiki tips and strategies for applying learning topic
  • Collaborate in the presentation and session design.
  • Estimated Preparation Time is 3-5 hours.
