Applications are not required to be in English. Please complete the application in your preferred language.
Project Goal
editWhat will be the outputs of your project and how will those outputs contribute to advancing a specific Movement Strategy Initiative
- What specific Movement Strategy Initiative does your project focus on and why? Please select one of the initiatives described here
- Initiative for underrepresented communities.
- There's a lack of knowledge about the movement, the movement strategy, and the representation within the Arabic community. Thus, enhancing the Arabic community's individual interest, passion, and involvement will be made possible by delivering the movement strategy playbook in their own language and organizing workshops and activities about it for newcomers to the strategy, which will bridge the knowledge gap regarding developing, digesting, and implementing the strategy.
Project Background
edit- When do you intend to begin this project and when will it be completed?
- I intend to begin during March or as soon as possible, and it will continue for up to 4 months.
- Where will your project activities be happening?
- All activities will be happening online and within Arabic community.
- I will translate the MS playbook and other materials into Arabic and derive Arabic content for interactive learning sessions for the different volunteers with their different experience levels, which will be reserved for future sessions as there is a lack of Arabic content about the movement strategy.
- The materials I create will be uploaded to Wiki Commons.
- Are you collaborating with other communities or affiliates on this project? Please provide details of how partners intend to work together to achieve the project goal.
- No, there is no collaboration with affiliates or other communities. I will collaborate with volunteers hosting a project within the Arabic community called Arabic Window to the movement strategy. This project is targeting the lack of knowledge about the movement strategy in the Arabic community and the need to provide content for future sessions and initiatives to provide more in depth and thorough guidance on building and implementing the movement strategy.
- The project will also reach out to experienced members to talk about their engagement in the movement strategy and its grants. This will be a bridge between newcomers and experienced ones in the strategy to get inspired.
- I am a member of the leadership development working group. As leadership is a priority in the movement, this project will have the added advantage of allowing us to talk about the movement's priorities and engage community members in the current work of the Leadership Development Working Group.
- What specific challenge will your project be aiming to solve? And what opportunities do you plan to take advantage of to solve the problem?
-
- For the Arabic community's participation in the movement strategy, there is a lack of materials. The community is still in the stages of a few and very individualistic participation, and it is difficult for a community that needs to step out of the fundamental phase to create more initiatives and actions. Translating the movement strategy playbook, complete works on this topic, into Arabic will ease the burden of understanding the movement strategy. I will organize sessions and prepare the materials for them in Arabic, which will be derived from the playbook. These sessions could include training and activities beyond lecture format.
- Lack of knowledge about the Movement, resources, and possibilities leads to inequalities within the Arabic community. So, the project will invite people who engaged in the Movement and its grants process to share their experience. This project creates a space for members with different levels of interest in the strategy to be involved.
- Does this project aim to apply one of the examples shared in the call for grants and if so which one?
- This project can become an example for others who want to create/translate communication/interactive materials.
- I also haven't encountered similar examples in the call for grants.

Outcomes
editAfter your activities are complete, we would like to understand the draft implementation plan for your community. You will be required to prepare a document detailing this plan around a movement strategy initiative. This report can be prepared through Meta-wiki using the Share your results button on this page. The report can be prepared in your language, and is not required to be written in English.
In this report, you will be asked to:
- Provide a link to the draft implementation plan document or Wikimedia page
- Describe what activities supported the development of the plan
- Describe how and where you have communicated your plan to relevant communities.
- Report on how your funding was spent
Your draft implementation plan document should address the following questions clearly:
- What movement strategy initiative or goal are you addressing?
- What activities will you be doing to address that initiative?
- What do you expect will happen as a result of your activities? How do those outcomes address the movement strategy initiative?
- How will you measure or evaluate your activities? What tools or methods will you use to evaluate your activities?
To create a draft implementation plan, we recommend the use of a logic model, which will help you and your team think about goals, activities, outcomes, and other factors in an organized way. Please refer the following resources to develop a logic model:
- Overview of logic models on Meta-wiki
- Example logic models for reference for other movement activities (such as partnerships and edit-a-thons)
- Blank logic model template on Google Drive
Please confirm below that you will be able to prepare a draft implementation plan document by the end of your grant:
- ...
Optionally, you are welcome to include other information you'd like to share around participation and representation in your activities. Please include any additional outcomes you would like to report on below:
