Goals

Did you meet your goals? Are you happy with how the project went?

Yes. I was able to invite new editors, especially those that are involved in the environmental sector. There were also other editors who were part of social activist group and the educational sector. I was assisted by four experienced Wikimedians during the entire duration, although on different schedules. It was a new learning experience for them, as they shared to me. The content translation tool was mostly used during the series of edit-a-thons and new editors was able to participate well because of the ease of access to the tool. However, since it's a machine generated translation, manual proofreading and editing of some templates are required.

Four edit-a-thons, 2 online lectures	Four edit-a-thons (two were done remotely), 1 online lecture (privately done upon request of two participants), 2 face to face gathering including involvement in environmental talks and fundraising campaign for a social activist, partnership in tree-planting activity during closing program	Although the project was intended to be edit-a-thon and campaign, I did not missed the opportunity to join some socio-environmental programs which I think would also benefit my project.
30-40 participants with 2 organizers	18 editors on the outreach dashboard, 8 users registered on the hashtag tracker tool, 10 participants on the landing page, 4 experienced Wikimedians have helped, Marobos, Sherlock808, Brazal.dang, and Kunokuno.	I neglect to be specific in the registration so there may be some redundancies. I was grateful that I was helped by other Wikimedians especially that this was my first project. Sherlock808 have even moderated the 2nd edit-a-thon and meet-up and shared his best practices during his own project Philippine Climate Change Translate-a-thon
100-150 articles improved	83 articles were created, 215 articles edited, 685 total edits, 104 revisions on 58 pages based on hashtag tracker tool, 176 images and 2706 contributions of metadata on ISA tool	The outreach dashboard was able to generate stats of 215 articles edited. This is a positive result, though I initially planned that we can create 100 new articles on the entire duration of the project.
15-20 new editors	5 new editors on 1st session, 5 new editors on 2nd session, 5 new editors remotely participated	New editors have only edited or created two to three articles while experienced editors have contributed numerous edits. While new editors cannot actively participate, I have continuously shared with them resources that they may used on editing Wikipedia. Some of the new editors are participants on the next projects of our local Wikipedia community.

Learning

Projects do not always go according to plan. Sharing what you learned can help you and others plan similar projects in the future. Help the movement learn from your experience by answering the following questions:

• What worked well?

The target articles were created, either through translation or actual editing. The suggestions from the main page of the campaign have helped in organizing the target articles and keep track on the development of the campaign. I was confident I can run this campaign well for the most part since I have experienced community organizers with me. Alex Stinson have also sent us a welcome message for the local campaign. The initial achievements of the campaign was also highlighted in the Education Newsletter on the June 2021 issue. I was also glad that we created direct impact on human rights advocacies by being part of the activity of social activist groups.

• What did not work so well?

Like most of the edit-a-thons, it was always a struggle to maintain momentum. There is no perfect strategy to engage the new editors especially. It usually varies from time to time. I think I can make them contribute more by only doing first small edits. There were also issues on term usages since most Central Bikol words does not have direct translation in English. Also, using the Central Bikol language would occasionally mislead the article.

• What would you do differently next time?

A more organized tool and tracker should be used next time to monitor the direct edits for the project. It may also be convenient if I will assign a team member to specifically record, monitor, and document the entirety of the project. By this, consolidating the data for actual report will not be demanding.

Anything else you want to share about your project?

I was grateful that I have been part of the Wikimedia Community through running this event in our region. I am looking forward to collaborating more to other Wikimedians either by way of community organizing or knowledge and gender gap campaigns.
