WNF/ALOY Awards+Exquisite Magazine/Art+Feminism 2020 in Nigeria
Wikimedia Nigeria Foundation in collaboration with ALOY Awards and Exquisite Magazine plan to organise Art+Feminsim 2020 to commemorate the International World Women's Day in Nigeria.
Statistic from Wikidata shows that out of 100millions Nigerian women less than 1500 have Wikipedia page see result here. We plan to celebrate the two mentioned events with a series of training and edithathons that will focus on improving and adding new biographies about Nigerian women to Wikipedia. One of our partners for the project, Exquisite Magazine, is the organiser of ALOY Awards, an annual event organised to promote the remarkable feat of Nigeria women from all walks of life.

Project Goal

- Recruit new female editors from Lagos State University and the University of Ibadan on one hand and encourage the participation of Nigerian-female celebrities, on the other hand.
- Improves and create new Wikipedia biographies for notable Nigeria women nominees and winners of the previous awards of ALOY Awards.

- We are planning a series of 3 editathons and training for Nigerian female-celebritiesn and members of the Wikimedia community in Nigeria at three locations namely:
- Lagos State University campus- Wiki fan Club
- University of Ibadan- Wiki Fan Club
- Exquisite Magazine/ALLOY Awards: Wikimedia Nigeria Foundation

3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event?
- Yes, three experience Wikimedians from our community have shown interest to volunteer their reasonable time for the project.
4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high-quality content? If not, how will you support them?
- This event focuses on both the experience and newbies. So, we expect the experienced Wikipedians to support the new ones. More so, since we may not guarantee the supply of free devices to all the participants we plan to restrict the training to only participants with a working tool eg android phone, tablet, laptop etc.
5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
- We will encourage all participants to collate their names, phone number ( WhatsApp) and email address for post-training engagements.
