Hello Anthere, thank you for submitting this final report and apologies for our delayed review. It was quite interesting reading your report and learning from your experience at the CC Summit. I thank you for participating in that event and leading two sessions. I’m sure the participants of your sessions have been ultimately excited and content.

  • Have you followed-up with the people you created a strong contact with? Have you had a chance to support each other in any manner after the summit?
  • I noted that there are 135 EUR of remaining funds. I acknowledge that the request to use remaining funds can be outdated due to our delayed review. That’s why I kindly ask you to reconfirm that you would like to use the underspend to cover the printing expenses for Wikimania. Also, please note that we would require the receipts of this expense once your request is approved and expenses made.

Thank you again for your hard work! I am looking forward to your response so that we can settle the underpend and close your grant. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 09:44, 13 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hello DSaroyan (WMF)
Thank you for reading my report and doing a follow-up. Regarding long lasting return on investment

  • I had several contacts regarding dissemination and translation of WikiFundi. I contacted them all (and some of them several times). I am sorry to say that those leads lead nowhere (at least, did not lead anywhere yet)
  • The OKC project is proceeding. Slowly, but proceeding and some of it include people talked to at CC
  • All contacts were added to the WiA mailing list database (to whom we sent our newsletter and some announcements)
  • The discussions around the WikiChallenge Ecoles d'Afrique as I presented lead to a successful outcome ! I wanted to create a spin-off of the WikiChallenge, and was still looking how to do it at the time. One year later, that dream came true. It now emerged to give birth to a real project ! : WikiChallenge Bénin. Which started... and dang... corona... so right now suspended till better times. But all elements are here, it only need to be revived asap the global situation is more favorable.
  • I actually submitted a scholarship to CC to go to CC Summit 2020 and was told by a committee member I might get supported this time. But well... Summit cancelled. So...
  • one of the outcome of my thoughts after the CC Summit was that I should do a CC certificate in 2020. I believe I actually know a lot of the training content, so it might make it possible to further increase my knowledge, but also a way to "validate" my knowledge of licences in a more official and practical way (would give me more standing toward potential partners and funders).

Non-spent expenses.
After review, only one printing expense at Wikimania was at the same time documented AND not covered by any other funding source. Total 240 SEK = 22 euros. I can send the document to you by email.
I would like to ask you that the remaining funds (113 euros) be used to cover part of the CC certificate. I intend to follow the "certificate for educators" (500 dollars), session June 2020. I have not registered yet, but it should be done shortly. I had initially considered to do it in September but something tells me that I should have a bit of free time due to all the projects and conferences being cancelled. I might just as well use that time to strenghten my skills and I expect that it can only be beneficial to the wikimedia community. Please tell me what you think (if you agree, will naturally forward the expense documentation).
Just to clarify things... I am a free lancer (so there is no employer to ever fund a training or a certificate to me). And whilst there is a system to help fund some training expenses for free lancers in France, Creative Commons is not eligible as a training company in the French system. Anthere (talk)

Hello Anthere, thanks for your detailed response. I'm sorry that due to the COVID-19 some of your planned collaborations are cancelled and some are postponed. I'm approving your request to reallocate the remaining funds to cover part of your CC certificate expenses and printing costs for Wikimania. Once you have the receipts, please send them to us over email. I've accepted your grant report and expense documents, so this grant is now complete. Thank you so much.
