@Celestinesucess: Hi Zita, and thanks for this report on the African Summit Edit-a-thon series of events. Here is my feedback on the report:

  • Congratulations on exceeding many of the goals you set for this project. I see that you had a much larger base of participants than expected. If you were to run an event like this in the future, would you prefer to have a structure where you get to engage with many participants for less time because of rotation, or have a smaller number of participants but more time to work with them in a longer, dedicated session?
  • In your reflection on what did not work well, I think encouraging newer contributors to Wikipedia to focus on improving existing articles is a good idea. Focusing on improving existing articles allows them to see and learn about article structure, and consider what parts of an article they can or want to contribute to. After some practice, some contributors will have more confidence and have a better idea how to start a new article.
  • Thanks as well for reporting on potential new partnerships you are exploring as a result of this event. It's great to hear that this served as a good opportunity to introduce program ideas and seek support from institutions.
  • We have contacted you over e-mail with some questions regarding your budget and expense documentation. Please follow up with us as soon as you are able. When these questions have been resolved, I can approve this report.

Thanks again for your work at the Africa Summit on Women and Girls in Technology, and for your considerations on how to improve these events in the future. Thanks, I JethroBT (WMF) (talk) 19:27, 9 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

@I JethroBT (WMF): Hello Chris, thank you for your comment on my report. With regard to your question, I will prefer smaller number of participants but more time with them in a longer dedicated session so that at the end of the day, most of them are able to practically do something before leaving. With that, they do not forget what was taught them and they can continue to edit and contribute when they go back to their various countries.--Celestinesucess (talk) 08:43, 13 November 2018 (UTC)Reply

@I JethroBT (WMF): I have responded to the questions regarding the budget and expense documentation--Celestinesucess (talk) 08:31, 22 November 2018 (UTC)Reply
