Hi Major Lyte, congratulations again for your first Rapid Grant! We are glad that you are planning to run a series of events to train participants on Wikidata. I have reviewed your grant proposal and have some questions and requests:

  • The Risk Assessment document you provided has been created by User:Wikimedia Nigeria for the Black Climate Rights editathon grant project. It is unacceptable to provide a Risk Assessment document that has been created for another event. Please create a new Risk Assessment form for your project and fill it out with your event information.
  • Do you have any experience in running Wikimedia activities in your community?
  • I read that you are a student at the Ilorin University. Are you in touch with Jamie Tubers? Do you coordinate this activity with the Ilorin Wikimedia Hub?
  • Could you please clarify the location of planned events?
  • How will you determine which media personality is eligible for Wikidata? Do you have a prepared list of Wikidata items that you will be editing? Could you share this list with us?
  • We think that the prize budget is high. Please reduce your budget, so that “Souvenirs” and “Prizes for top editors” expenses together do not exceed 300 USD.
  • You planned to make 10 branded T-shirts. To whom will you offer these T-shirts?
  • Why is “Internet support for participants during the event” less than “Internet support for team members” if the number of team members is only 4. Why do you need internet support for team members?

Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 10:12, 19 July 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello Davit,

Thank you very much for taking time to review this application.

  • The Risk Assessment document has been corrected.
  • I have worked with James Moore200 on few of his Projects, like Wiki Loves SDGs Nigeria; worked with his team to collate the list of proposed articles and Wikidata Items that were created during the Edit-a-thon. Besides, I have won different prizes at the Fan Club Level. James Moore200 is one of the three other experienced Wikimedians that will be working with me on this project.
  • I am not in close contact with him but I was one of the participants during the Wikipedia20 event which held in Ilorin. It was between the Fan Club and the Hub. I have coordinated event with James Moore200 during Wiki Loves SDGs Nigeria Project amongst others.
  • It's taking place in Ilorin, Kwara State. The training is aimed at people within the Kwara State.
  • Yes, a list have of media personalities we are going to be working on. Kindly, see here for the list of media personalities
  • The budget for Souvenirs and Prizes for Top Editors have been reduced to 300 USD
  • The T-Shirts are for top participants and Organizers.
  • The internet is in form of data scholarship - participants who have a need for data support (USD300). This will be approximately $10 each for an estimation of 30 participants. Hence $10 x 30 = $300 While the other is for team support for their internet/gift voucher (USD250)

Thank you for your time once again

Kind regards

Hi Major Lyte, thanks for your response. I have a few additional requests:

  • Could you explain in your response why you have linked a Risk Assessment document from another project instead of creating a new one?
  • Please revert your edit on the "Internet support for team members" budget item and restore the initial requested amount for this expanse.
  • Please add the usernames of two other experienced editors who will support you during the project.
