Grants talk:Project/Rapid/Semmy1960/WikiBlogger
Comments from DSaroyan (WMF)
editHello Semmy1960, thanks for submitting this grant request. We are really excited about your plans to run 2-day training sessions for Nigerian bloggers. I have some questions after reviewing the grant application, please address them all.
- The Risk Assessment document you provided has been created by User:Wikimedia Nigeria for the Black Climate Rights editathon grant project. It is unacceptable to provide a Risk Assessment document that has been created for another event. Please create a new Risk Assessment form for your project and fill it out with your event information. Could you also explain in your response why you have linked a Risk Assessment document from another project instead of creating a new one?
- I am new to the system, I don't know how to create a new risk assessment, so I copied the link from another grant. I am not aware that this act is not allowed. Kindly accept my apology. I have therefore created a new link.
- Could you please provide a more detailed schedule of the training day? How do you plan to train participants about the Neutral point of view (NPOV) and encyclopedic style?
Day1
editThe day1 will focus on the following topics
- Introduction to Wikipedia- 5 Pillars of Wikpedia
- Neutral Point of View-
- Introduction to various licenses- Creative Commons
- Introduction to Wikipedia Notability- [[1]]
- How to start a new page on Wikipedia
- Step by step of uploading files on Commons
Day2
edit- The Day2 will center on edit-a-thon
- Articles/names will be assigned by facilitators to each of the participant for review and improvement.
- You mentioned that you would edit articles about famous Nigerian bloggers. What will be your strategy to avoid any COI and how will you determine these individuals’ notability for Wikipedia?
- The following strategy will be adopted to avoid any COI among perticipants:
- All names to be improved or profiled on Wikipedia must have been identified before the edit-a-thon.
- The list in (1) will be shared among the participants.
- Participants will be exposed to what accounted for COI and Plain and simple conflict of interest guideon Wikipedia
- How will you determine notability of these individuals
- I am aware that most of the participants in this event won's be able to determine the notability of the suggested names. We plan to share the list with experienced Wikimedian to review each name on the list to confirm their notability per Wikipedia policy.
- You also mentioned that you were in touch with the Nigerian bloggers. Did any of them express interest in joining your initiative as a participant?
- Yes, memmbers of the association are so excited about the training.
Yes, they have confirmed their participation.
- Could you confirm that you don’t hold any leading positions at Wikimedia User Group Nigeria?
- Yes, I don't hold a leading role in the group.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 13:18, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
Please,DSaroyan (WMF), let me know if you need further clarification from me--- Semmy1960 (talk) 22:53, 2 August 2021 (UTC)
Request for an extension
editHi DSaroyan (WMF), we encountered delays in the execution of the project with the participation of the students of Lagos State University, Ojoo, Lagos. The project is on course, and we, therefore, request for additional two weeks to finalize the project. We therefore request for the extension of the project till 5th of October,2021--Semmy1960 (talk) 08:18, 28 September 2021 (UTC)
- Hello Semmy1960, thanks for posting your extension request. It is formally approved now. The new grant end date is October 5, 2021, and the final report is due on November 5, 2021. Best regards, DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 13:56, 29 September 2021 (UTC)
Clarification
editHello DSaroyan (WMF) and happy holidays… Just happened to come across this project now with my name in it. Can you confirm if this was funded or still under review as it was entered in funded category but still bears proposed. Thanks. Kaizenify (talk) 11:54, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- Hi Kaizenify, Happy New Year! Yes, it has been funded in August. Didn't Semmy1960 ask you before adding your name to the proposal? --DSaroyan (WMF) (talk) 11:59, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
- Ohh, thanks DSaroyan (WMF) for the response. Just going through the report now(as I didn’t even know a report has been made), seems I was out of town then and hence my unavailability. Sorry for eating from your busy time; well done and best regards. Kaizenify (talk) 12:10, 18 January 2022 (UTC)
