Report accepted

Hi, Sparrow (麻雀), thank you for submitting this final report and your expense documentation. My apologies that it took us so long to review. I have now reviewed your expense documentation and final report and am accepting both. Congratulations, this grant is complete!

After reviewing your report I have a follow-up question:

  • You mentioned that you were somewhat sad that several participants did not contribute much. Were these people who were directly supported by the grant (that is, their food, lodging, or transportation was paid for), or were they other people?
  • Do you know why they didn't contribute much? Are there things you could do differently at future events to increase participation?

Thank you for all the hard work you put into this grant, and for sharing what you learned with WMF and the community.

Dear LSmith (WMF), there was only one participant that didn't do much and that participant kind of influenced one other friend to not do too much either. I think that the reason for that was that person was in a difficult mental situation overall. At this event and all over WfP events we don't only have experienced editors but also completely new people. You don't know whether they will enjoy or be good at editing beforehand but part of the concept is to get new editors or connect to people who are activists. I think to some degree this cannot be avoided. I didn't expect this behavior from the participant. We thought about mainly giving spots to experienced editors in the future and being more clear in the communication of what is expected of participants in the future to avoid this. --Sparrow (麻雀) 🐧 12:41, 1 March 2019 (UTC)Reply
