Programs & Events Dashboard/Admins/Archive

  • How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?

I have created my account on Wikipedia in 2011 and have become particularly active since 2014. I mostly edit on Portuguese Wikipedia, but have some hundred articles created on French Wikipedia. I am active in education programs and GLAM initiatives, which are normally managed on the Dashboard.

  • What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?

I am comfortable communicating in Portuguese, French, English and Spanish. I am mostly active on projects in Portuguese and French, and also global projects on which the lingua franca is English.

  • Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?

I have been involved with the Dashboard since its inception and have been involved in contributing to the launching of some of its features in Portuguese (i.e., automated edits) and in giving systematic feedbacks to the dev team and focused research projects. I believe I have enough knowledge to help new users to work with the tool and serve as bridge for the community of users and the dev team.

  • What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?

I have led 46 programs with 1,580 editors on the Dashboard --my user account report is available here.

Thanks for considering this application. --Joalpe (talk) 02:08, 13 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?

I have created my account on Wikipedia in 2009, and have been active since then. I started at the Portuguese Wikipedia, but soon became very active in Wikimedia Commons. I currently hold teh sysop flag on both projects. I'm also starting to become quite active in Wikidata. I am active in education programs and GLAM initiatives, which are normally managed on the Dashboard.

  • What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?

I am comfortable communicating in Portuguese, French, English, Spanish. I can also read Italian and Catalan with some easiness, but I'm unable to answer back using those two languages. I am mostly active on projects in Portuguese and global projects on which the lingua franca is English, particularly Wikimedia Commons and more recently Wikidata.

  • Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?

I have became involved with the Dashboard by the hand of Joalpe (above), who was already an admin there, and helped me with the first steps and everything I needed to know. I have been involved in contributing to the testing of some of its features in Portuguese (i.e., automated edits), reporting mainly to Joalpe and Sage. I believe I have enough knowledge to help new users to work with the tool and serve as bridge for the community of users and the dev team.

  • What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?

I have led a number of programs on the Dashboard, enough to understand fairly well how the platform works. The projects were mainly focused in Gender Gap, GLAM and Education --my user account report is available here.

  • Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?

As we all know that Dashboard is a very powerful tool to monitor the work done during the training or after the training period. I am working with more than 1600 in an academic year and see their regular contributions and assign the work to students through it. During this process, I have gained more knowledge and know the special features of the dashboard.

Since the project on Dashboard was started I have been in touch with one of the engineers who worked for the development of it and I have given many suggestions to develop it. With the adminship, I am expecting to explore more convey it to the wider community in India.

  1. How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?
I was a wiki vandal from 2004-2008. I do projects with Wiki Project Med, Wikimedians in Residence Exchange Network, and Wikimedia New York City. I am employed as Wikimedian in Residence at the Data Science Institute at the University of Virginia.
  2. What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?
I only speak English. I am active in English Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Meta-Wiki, and English Wikisource.
  3. Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?
I am not eager to take on a userright but I do wish for the success of the Dashboard and for more people and wiki community groups to use it. I think that I would be a better advocate for the dashboard if I had access to all its features. In the call for admins one of the requests is for admins to respond to questions on the talk page, and I can do that. I also want to learn the features, but I hesitate to commit to be on call to help anyone with dashboard instance corrections when I am not sure who will request these things and urgent these requests could be.
  4. What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?
I am a continual dashboard user and I feel that anyone doing Wiki outreach should also use it. I have taught dashboard use to others and advocated for it in many Wiki community groups. I wrote the original documentation for the Dashboard at Programs & Events Dashboard and continue to encourage the development of it.

  • How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?

I have been active on Wikimedia projects for past two years. I created my account when I started to work at Wikimedia Serbia as Education Program Manager. Since then I constantly work on implementing education projects in Serbia which means I use Wikipedia on a daily bases.

  • What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?

I am comfortable communicating in Serbian, Bosnian, Croatian, Montenegrin, English and Spanish. I am active on Wikidata and rarely on Wiktionary and I am mostly active on projects in Serbian.

  • Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?

I have been involved with the Dashboard since February 2017. Since then I use it to track and report metrics of Education Program in Serbia. I find Dashboard an essential tool for collecting information as to where we stand on essential indicators. As Admin I can contribute to the further development of Dashboard in order to become an even more useful tool. In addition, I think that in this way I could get a wider picture of how it works, which would be significant for my professional development.

  • What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?

I have led 81 programs until now with 2500 editors. I was also participating in testing meeting for Dashboard improving in July 2017 held by Sejal Khatri. My user account is available here. Thanks for considering my application.--Neboysha87 (talk) 09:30, 14 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?
  • What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?
  • I have the following language efficiencies according to Template:Babel; en-4, te-N, hi-2.
  • Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?
  • While I used the dashboard for activities I had identified several features going wrong and some errors, and reported it through the feedback email and also through the grant reports submitted to WMF. By being a dashboard admin, I intend to explore the opportunities for new features that can be helpful for program leaders, and result in better metrics. Apart from that, on regular basis, I will support users in using the dashboard to its best, and also identify the existing errors/bugs.
  • What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?

@Samwalton9 (WMF): Hi Sam, thanks for this message. I've completed the training. KCVelaga (talk) 11:57, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?
I have been active on Wikimedia since the Spring of 2006, and with my students since the 2006-2007 school year (starting September). I work mostly when my 7th-grade students are also actively editing Wikipedia as part of my school class project. I also give teacher training courses on using Wikipedia so that the teachers learn both how to teach their own students effective use of the encyclopedia and how to edit and write articles. I am also active in training teachers how to use and share offline Wikipedia for use in schools with absolutely no internet (or cell phone) connection.
  • What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?
I live and work in Geneva, Switzerland. Geneva is in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. I am also actively working with schools in West Africa, also French-speaking. I am starting up a small English-speaking offline Wikipedia project in Zimbabwe.
  • Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?
I feel that this powerful tool is now mature. For starters, I would like to be able to help the teachers I train when they start using the dashboard with their own students. This type of close mentoring would be easier with admin tools. I would also like to be able to other teachers in the French-speaking community when they start using the dashboard.

  1. How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?
I created this account in 2016. Before that, I was active with Wikimedia DC. Mostly I work with outreach, working one-on-one with new users at events.
  2. What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?
My first language is English. I have some very limited communication in a few other languages. I have made a few simple edits to non-English wikis, and add information to WikiData in multiple languages when I can find it. Mostly I add images to Commons, but I also collaborate with our local group in updating the GLAM newsletter. I am a member of the Wikimedia and Libraries User Group, and participated in librarian training in cooperation with the OCLC Wikipedia + Libraries program.
  3. Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?
Having been employed in the education sector, I understand how important it is for educators to have good support, especially during the busier seasons of the school year. I am not currently affiliated with an educational institution, so I could be more available during those times. I have worked internationally, but am currently located in the Eastern Time Zone.
  4. What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?
I have used the dashboard for two meetups.

  1. How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?
I created my account in 2014, since 2015 I'm cswiki sysop, since May 2016 cswiki bureaucrat, since November 2016 cswiki arbitrator and since December 2017 cswiki checkuser. I use those roles for vandalism fighting, housekeeping and to participate as the last resort in dispute resolution process – the Arbitration Committee.
Since 2016, I'm a member of Wikimedia Czech Republic and I'm active as system administrator, which means I'm taking care about two wikis, blog, our own expense tracking app and emails.
  2. What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?
My first language is Czech. I'm able to communicate in English fluently. My home wiki is Czech Wikipedia, I made some edits to a few other projects, but I'm not active contributor there.
  3. Why od you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?
Many users in Czech Wikipedia reach to me if anything related to Wikimedia movement doesn't work as they expect and because of that, I receive reports regarding the Dashboard from time to time. I'm able to resolve many issues with the Dashboard, as mostly they're resolved by going through a general process usable with every application and in case it is not just a clear mistake in course settings, I'm frequently able to figure out an alternative solution. This sometimes require editing courses I'm not a facilitator of (and I don't want to be - I need the rights only from technical reasons), usually to test how Dashboar behave with data of that particular problematic course. As on-wiki admins currently have no special privileges related to courses of their wiki, althrough it is proposed. I think I should be a Dashboard Admin to be able to solve those problems more easily, without having to ask for facilitator rights of that problem. I don't use admin rights for other purposes. I'm willing to help non-Czech users if you want me to do it, by watching and replying to Dashboard queries on a wiki page or in a maillinglist if something like this exist.
  4. What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?
I use Dashboard as a participant (usually in editathons, workshops and so on). As a facilitator, I almost don't use Dashboard (99 % of my user-related Dashboard usages is replying to requests like "Can you create a Dashboard course for me please?"). As I said above, I use dashboard for non-user things. Even that, I consider myself experienced Dashboard user, as I'm pretty familiar with the interface and I'm able to create courses, I just don't need it - I assume my usecase is different than usecase of other admins. I will give up my rights after [1] will be resolved unless I will have other valid usecase approved by whoever will have the responsibility over granting the rights.

  • How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?

I've been a Wikipedian & Wikimedian since 2001. I specialize in outreach: Education, GLAM, Medicine, WikiWomen, Wikidata. I have been creating collaboration with various institutions, support various lecturers in implementing Wikipedia into their curriculum (k-12 & Academia), and am running events and workshops regularly.

  • What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?

I operate mainly on Hebrew Wikipedia (also an Admin), English Wikipedia, Wikidata, Commons, Outreach & Meta.

  • What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?

I was involved with the creation of the dashboard (adapting it from the WikiEd dashboard) and one of the first to adapt it, moving away from the education extension. I helped debug it, helped with thinking about what features to include, have helped disseminate it by doing training and workshops, as well as supporting individual users adapting it. I've also translated it to Hebrew. Other than that, all my trainings, workshops and academic courses are done through the dashboard.

  • Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?

Having admin rights not only helped me run my own courses and training in a more efficient way, but have also helped me in supporting the local and global community. Now, as chair of the newly created "Wikipedia & Education User Group", I foresee that we will continue supporting Wikimedians, academic staff and GLAMs from emerging communities and the developing world while taking their first steps using the dashboard. Having admin rights will assist me in this work.

  1. How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?
I began editing in 2008. I began teaching with Wikipedia in 2011(?) and cofounded Art+Feminism in 2013.
  2. What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?
I can communicate in French, read Spanish, and am a native speaker of English. I contribute to en, Commons, and Wikidata.
  3. Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?
I have been the A+F lead who has been responsible for Dashboard for the past two campaigns. This year I will be training other A+F team to take over.
  4. What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?
As the A+F Dashboard lead for the past two campaigns I have used my Admin perms to make adjustments to many of our ~300 events (creating accounts, changing titles, locations, organizers, and removing mistaken "private" events.) I have used dashboard to pull metrics. I also worked closely with Sage Ross to develop and debug improvements to the tool. --Theredproject (talk) 22:29, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  1. How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?
First edits in 2006, account in 2007. Active first with Wikipedia research, then as an instructor teaching with Wikipedia, and later more active as an editor. Since 2014 I've been involved in off-wiki meetups/events. Currently on the board of Wikimedia NYC.
  2. What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?
en-N; es-1. I'm quite active on Wikimedia Commons, too, and Wikidata to a lesser degree.
  3. Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?
Admin rights on the Dashboard are helpful as an organizer with Wikimedia NYC, where I hope we will increase our usage of the tool. I also work with Wiki Education, so the Dashboard comes up in conversation regularly. Not everybody I talk to is someone who's a good fit to use the Wiki Education Dashboard, however, and I point them to the P&E Dashboard. I can help with either. (I am applying in a volunteer capacity; not as an employee of Wiki Education.)
  4. What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?
I've worked with Wiki Education since January 2015, and have used the Dashboard [as an admin] throughout that time. I am familiar with administrative processes on both Dashboards and learn about new Dashboard developments regardless, so it makes sense for me to be in a position to provide support with the knowledge I will have regardless. I've used the P&E version in multiple events I've helped to organize and have helped people using it in other events I've been involved with in other capacities. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 15:43, 25 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?

I am a Wikipedia education program team leader at hashemite university in jordan and i established the education program from zero since end of 2014 until full establishment in 30 October 2018 when Katherine Maher, the excutive director of Wikimedia foundation, visited my university (the hashemite university in jordan) after my invitation in April 2018 at Berlin -immediately after Wikimedia conference- to sign a MOU with the university in that there will be induction office for Wikipedia which will contains laptop donated from the Wikimedia foundation as in the MOU through hardware donation program to use it for training of students in the university. I'd like to volunteer as dashboard admin because i think there's no native Arab speakers on the dashboard adminship until now although it is an international language. I hope to be accepted as i am running large campaign on dashboard for Wikipedia education program on hashemite university and i wil be able to help many of Arab speakers who deal with the dashboard all over the world and especially in the Arab world.

  • What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?

I completed the training course about 5 months ago and i was reading about the dashboard more than year before as well as attending a session about dashboard in the last Wikimedia conference and discussion with many dashboard users all over the world. • I communicate mostly in English and contribute actively on English Wikipedia. I also contribute to other non-english Wikipedias from time to time and currently leading the creation of the GA Wikipedia.
  3. Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?
    • I am a community leader and my activities often involve running and monitoring projects to measure the impact. The dashboard helps me achieve these goals through created campaigns and programs. Sometimes managing large programs can result in simple errors that will require actions that may burden volunteers signed up to a program, however with the admin status a lot of such changes can be effected with almost little effort. Achieving an admin status will enhance my use of the platform and increase effectiveness around its use for my work.
  4. What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?
    • My experience with the dashboard goes beyond just activity tracking, as I have used it in various capacities such as delivering remote courses as part of a Wikipedia Education Program and my experience in years spans a period of about 3 years.

  • How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?

I've been on Wikipedia since 2018. I'm active on English Wikipedia.

  • What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?

I'm not active on any non-English Wikipedias.

  • Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?

I'm the program admin of ART+FEMINISM. I want to support our organizers use of the dashboard especially during our annual campaign.

  • What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?

I have created programs, enrolled editors, and created users through the dashboard. I use data from the dashboard to help manage our annual campaign.

  1. How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?
I have been a Wikipedia editor since 2004, and an admin on the English Wikipedia since 2005
  2. What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?
I'm only fluent in English. I'm somewhat active on Wikidata and Commons.
  3. Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?
I'm part of the organising committee for Wikimedians of the Caribbean User Group, and the group is starting to run programmes on the P&E Dashboard.
  4. What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?
I am an admin on the Wiki Education Dashboard, and have been since 2015. I make extensive use of the Dashboard, on a daily basis, as part of my work there. Wiki Education supports about 400 courses and well over 7,000 students per term, and I am part of a team of four people who field questions and solve problems from students (who are end users of the Dashboard) and instructors (who fill the same role as facilitators).

  1. I’ve been a Wikipedian/Wikimedian since 2016 on Wikipedia in Portuguese and I’m very active on Commons and Wikidata as well, through GLAM activities. Now, I’m also the Projects Manager for the Wiki Movement Brazil User Group, with this user GiFontenelle (WMB), and I work organizing a lot of GLAMs activities and Educational programs.
  2. Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese and English.
  3. I have been a facilitator in a lot of the Brazilians editathons for a few years and use the platform a lot. Now, as I said previously, I’m also the Brazilian Wikimedian managing the Educational Programs for WMB UG and I often have to deal with more administrative aspects of educators campaigns. Being an administrator would be very good for me to be able to better help these educators and develop my activities.
  4. In the last few years, I have been a participant and facilitator in a lot of the Brazilians events, especially those in the Art+Feminism Campaign and the events of the Paulista Museum GLAM. I have been also very involved in the Wikidata Labs and a few older Educational programs/events.

  • How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?

I've been an employee of Wikimedia Sverige since January 2020. I work as a project leader for education and learning projects, but also in association involvement. (I have had my private Wikipedia account for quite a few years more than that).

  • What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?

I'm comfortable in communicating in Swedish and English. My primary project is sv.wikipedia.org and I'm also active on Wikidata and Commons, as well as a little bit on en.wikipedia.org.

  • Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?

We use the Dashboard quite a lot in Wikimedia Sverige. When employees quit and the activities continue, it would be very convenient to be able to assign new employees and project leaders to the old projects, also for the possibility of cloning old projects. I would fill that kind of position within the association.

  • What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?

I have used the Dashboard in a handful of projects, including creating new programs. I am also working on translating the training modules into Swedish in order for us to use the online training even more.

  • How long have you been on Wikipedia, and what areas are you active in?

I've been on Wikipedia since 2016. I'm primarily active on English Wikipedia.

  • What languages are you comfortable communicating in? Are you active on any non-English Wikipedias or other Wikimedia projects?

I'm comfortable communicating in French and Spanish. I'm not currently active on any other non-English Wikipedias.

  • Why do you want to be an Admin of the Dashboard?

I'm the Director of ART+FEMINISM. The Dashboard is critical to our managing and organizing event data from edit-a-thons that take place on all 6 inhabitable continents each year.

  • What experience do you have as a user of the Dashboard?

For two years, I've led digital workshops for organizers and new editors using the Dashboard for the first time. In my role, I also lend myself to acting as technical support time during the high traffic season of our campaign.
