The community needs to develop an active test project; it must remain active until approval (automated statistics, recent changes). It is generally considered active if the analysis lists at least three active, not-grayed-out editors listed in the sections for the previous few months.
Item about the language at Wikidata. It would normally include the Wikimedia language code, name of the language, etc. Please complete at Wikidata if needed.

There definitely needs to be Wikipedias in the languages of Taiwanese aborigines and one of them is Nataoran. Nataoran is a highly endangered Formosan language spoken in Taiwan by the Amis and Sakizaya people. --47.150.68.2604:58, 1 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Taiwanese aborigines constitute nearly 2% of the Taiwan's total population. The proportion is very low. Nowadays, there are 16 aboriginal peoples have been officially recognized.
In 1878, the Sakizaya and Kavalan fought a devastating battle against Qing invaders. This event ended in disaster for the both communities causing many of their members to be slaughtered in an event called the "Takobowan Incident" (also known as the "Galeewan Incident" or "Kalyawan Battle"). The remaining Sakizaya, meanwhile, were forced to escape and to blend with Amis. In 2003, the community presented a petition for official ethnos status to the Council of Indigenous Peoples based on historical, linguistic and cultural data. Eventually, the petition was approved on January 17, 2007, recognizing them as a distinct ethnos, and the Sakizaya was confirmed as the thirteen aboriginal peoples of Taiwan. The Sakizaya has 904 enrolled members (2017), in fact, we estimate the number of the Sakizaya about 5,000 people. Besides, because of history, the Sakizaya is both good at Amis language and Sakizaya language, which accelerates Sakizaya language becoming an endangered language. Sakizaya members, who hidden in the Amis, have an influence on modern Hualien politics. They also use the influence to mobilize the organization in their language revitalization, and choose Wikipedia in Sakizaya language as the dimension of effort.
In 2015, the Center for Aboriginal Studies(ALCD) of National ChengChi University received subsidy from Ministry of Education to promote the operation of Wikimedia incubator for aboriginal peoples. This is how the incubator of Wikipedia in Sakizaya started. Unexpectedly, this incubator takes the Sakizaya society by storm and recently develops to self-running by their members.
Today(August 15, 2017), there are three languages in the active list of incubator among Taiwanese aboriginal languages, two of which are Atayal and Amis language, which spoken by 80,000 and 200,000 people; the third one is Sakizaya language. Compared with ethnic population, Sakizaya even get greater grades. Now the movement of revitalize Sakizaya language is establishing the Sakizaya-language edition of Wikipedia. Comment I could observe that there is an incubator with more than 400 articles, although most of them are stubs (Example: incubator:Wp/ais/Pololan) or microstubs with almost no content (Example: incubator:Wp/ais/bihkac). This test wiki have good recent activity, but in the last two weeks it came from one user only. In the last 30 days there were 3 users contributing. I will support the creation of this wiki if join some more users and the microstubs are expanded. Comment The recent activity of Sakizaya language is going really good, there are at least 7 users for daily contributing. The quality and quantity of their articles are also improved to a certain level. I can see there are some contributors who is engaging in their interface translation. Hi! @Dcljr:,@Ajraddatz: There was an exhibition held by Ministry of Education of Taiwan for Aboriginal Languages Wikipedia these past two days. The Sakizaya People who made comments were just visiting the exhibition und were encouraged to know more about this project like how to work on it (leaving comments were like an ending?). It's a promotion activity, just want to get some new members who might be interested in this and follow the project when they got home. This happened for Wikipedia Atayal as well. Sakizaya was granted a language code in the January 2019 SIL code release, so this project is now eligible.
To the best of my ability, I have moved the test in Incubator to incubator:Wp/szy, though I would ask community members to check and make sure I didn't miss anything.
Community members need to check in at translatewiki.net to determine whether any translations there under ais are actually Sakizaya (and should be moved) or are actually Nataoran (and should probably be deleted, since ais for Nataoran is deprecated in favor of including it within ami). @Amire80: for your information. I just moved these two comments from the already archived "Arguments" section above to here (removing the "Support" labels, since that's not relevant anymore). Since the language has been judged "eligible", additional comments in favor of having a standalone wiki are no longer helpful. What would be helpful is translating the MediaWiki system messages into this language at translatewiki:, as explained at Language proposal policy#Requisites for final approval. I just created translatewiki:Portal:szy based on another small-language portal there, since that page is linked to from incubator:Wp/szy but did not exist yet.
