Request for account block in just one project

Hallo, because I no longer want to support the open anti-Semitic project ar:Wikipedia, I requested a local block of my account there. My request was not implemented. I still think it is my right - especially in times of SUL accounts - that you can have your account blocked in individual projects. Since the administrators there refuse to block me, I'm now asking here for this to happen. None of this is a joke, I feel really unconfortable just thinking about contributing to this project. I cannot and do not want to support anti-Semites and their project. With no edit. Not even automated edits. I expect this block for this one project. Marcus Cyron (talk) 04:42, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

@Marcus Cyron: This request would be better placed on the Stewards' noticeboard. This page is used exclusively for global locks and global blocks, not blocks for singular projects. Although, I should note that self-block requests aren't always fulfilled, especially if the local administrators have declined to do it, the stewards won't usually override that. --Ferien (talk) 07:29, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
We do not act against local consensus, and there is certainly no "right to be blocked" globally. You may try soliciting an admin on that project you know directly. Outside of that, my suggestion for you @Marcus Cyron: is to:
(a) replace your arwiki user and usertalk page with a cross-wiki redirect to another project;
(b) place w:ar:قالب:متقاعد under the cross rewiki redirects;
(c) Place w:ar:تصنيف:ألغي الاشتراك في تسليم الرسالة on your usertalk;
(d) Disable your local project notifications here: w:ar:خاص:تفضيلات#mw-prefsection-echo (if you use global preferences you may override them for just that project);
(e) move along to other projects.
I also suggest you do not do other things such as posting a manisfesto on your userpage there. The steps above will also accomplish much more than a "block" would. If you think that the project has a serious systemic problem you may also open a Requests for comment here, though keep in mind that the global RFC process is not swift and may require much effort to manage. — xaosflux Talk 15:04, 10 January 2024 (UTC)

Enwp rename query

A simple rename request Ree625 → ghaij625 might have issues, (I've asked this question on IRC and didn't get a response) going through the checks on the requesting account, the edit filter log has mentioned socking issues, my concern is, should this request be denied or completed? - FlightTime (open channel) 14:45, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

@FlightTime looks like it was already done. — xaosflux Talk 14:55, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

Transition of Event Organizer Rights Management to Meta-Wiki Administrators

Hello Stewards,

I'm writing to inform you of a change intended to reduce the burden on you: the management of Campaignsevents-beta-tester rights is transitioning from being managed by you, stewards to Meta-Wiki administrators. This shift is designed to streamline the rights granting process and to lessen some of the workload you currently manage. We appreciate your efforts and believe this change will be beneficial for everyone involved. - Udehb-WMF (talk) 13:23, 15 January 2024 (UTC)

To be fair, it appears all of the current work is being done via 'sysadmin actions' not steward actions, but as this is a local meta-wiki group sounds fine. — xaosflux Talk 10:58, 24 January 2024 (UTC)

I was blocked because I pressed edit button

On dr Chris Hatcher link I pressed the edit button because I had info pertaining to his death. He was my father’s best friend. Right away I was blocked for abuse when all I was trying to do was add a few facts. 172.56.201.192 my up address 2607:FB91:1E30:5750:40FA:ADBA:C6C0:7236 19:18, 28 January 2024 (UTC)

That will be a local issue at the wiki where you are editing. Global filters do not block, so that will also have been a local abusefilter that was acting.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:19, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
Also, that IP address is in a range that is already blocked; you will need to register an account to contribute using that network. — xaosflux Talk 01:50, 29 January 2024 (UTC)
@علاء: We might want to switch the reasoning to the same as Special:GlobalBlockList/2607:FB90:0:0:0:0:0:0/32 given it's the same range. -- Amanda (she/her) 03:36, 30 January 2024 (UTC)

Informing you about the Mental Health Resource Center and inviting any comments you may have

Hello Stewards! I work in the Community Resilience and Sustainability team of the Wikimedia Foundation. The Mental Health Resource Center is a group of pages on Meta-wiki aimed at supporting the mental wellbeing of users in our community.

The Mental Health Resource Center launched in August 2023. The goal is to review the comments and suggestions to improve the Mental Health Resource Center each quarter. As there have not been many comments yet, I’d like to invite you to provide comments and resource suggestions as you are able to do so. The hope is this resource expands over time to cover more languages and cultures. Thank you! Best, JKoerner (WMF) (talk) 20:59, 18 January 2024 (UTC)

Help to notify an RFC

As it is indicated in the instructions for initiating an RFC, I post a notice on this stewards' noticeboard requesting assistance. As I have been permanently blocked in Wikipedia in Aragonese, I cannot notify to its community and sysops that I have initiated this RFC: Category of non-free images in Wikipedia in Aragonese wich clearly contravenes the Wikimedia Licensing Policy. Thank you. Pompilos (talk) 20:35, 22 January 2024 (UTC)
