The nine working groups conclude, a new one begins
The original plan had been to have the final, harmonized recommendations ready by early December. Following the harmonization sprint, it was clear that more time would be needed to create one set of recommendations and formulate principles. This required an overall shift in the timeline for phase two of Movement Strategy whereby late 2019 would instead be dedicated to synthesizing recommendations. A draft version of the synthesized recommendations would then be published in early 2020 followed by an additional round of community conversations. Feedback would then be integrated and the final recommendations would be published prior to the Wikimedia Summit in April 2020.
The working groups put the finishing touches on their recommendations and, by November 1, they concluded a year and half of hard work that had begun in 2018. They had gone well beyond what was originally asked of them, and always brought exceptional care and commitment to Movement Strategy.
The core team set up a sign up process for those interested in taking the work forward and turning nine sets of recommendations into one coherent set. A new team of former working group members came together:
- 15 writers to synthesize the recommendations and develop one coherent set.
- 10 connectors to help writers make sense and further integrate existing material, research, and input from community conversations.
- 17 reviewers to bring in specific additional perspectives, expertise, contexts, and advise at different times of the process.
