I understand AffCom as a body that recognizes the potential in users to build connections and create structures that support the vision of free knowledge. The ability of AffCom members to identify this potential and to mold it into practical energy is one of my key criteria for supporting any candidate. The hard work Aafi has put into his affiliate DCW is impressive. The growth of this affiliate over just a few years speaks for itself. With that in mind, I believe Aafi is a strong candidate for AffCom from South Asia. Good luck Aafi and enjoy some chai. signed, 511KeV (talk) 04:04, 28 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

As a former AffCom member, I would like to offer my support for Aafi's candidacy. Throughout all my interactions with Aafi, both in person and online, he has shown wisdom, humility, dedication, and integrity. These qualities are crucial in a member of the committee, along with the understanding of the affiliate ecosystem and experience within it.

Furthermore, I am a big proponent of maintaining diversity in the different committees and movement bodies. Aafi's background will bring a unique perspective to AffCom that should be taken into account to complement his merit.

I therefore urge you to select Aafi as a member of your committee, and I trust he will live up to the responsibility and masterfully tackle the challenges brought before the committee.

As a Greek Wikimedian, ECWO organiser and involved with education, I had the opportunity to meet and partner with Aafi online. In our conversations, he showed that he is a knowledgeable Wikimedian, that has a complete understanding of the movement structures, processes and priorities. He is also dedicated, kind and neutral, something important for a member of any Wikimedia committee. He has also been able to create and support a strong affiliate with defined structures, processes and function, as well as multiple successful Ecwos, from scratch.

As the role of the Affcom is to provide a bridge between WMF and the community, to support the affiliates and help them with various issues when necessary, it's also important that the body has a diverse composition from all regions that would match the geographic diversity of affiliates. I believe that Aafi, is a good choice to represent South Asia and bring South Asian representation in this body, and that he will be able to provide meaningful contribution as a member of the Affcom. He is a dedicated, credible and experienced Wikimedian. Understanding the real situation of affiliates in the movement is crucial and complicated. Being able to build his own community is a big plus factor. Good luck! - Maffeth.opiana (talk) 03:33, 2 November 2024 (UTC) (On behalf of PhilWiki Community)Reply

I strongly endorse Aafi's candidacy as he has both the experience being an organizer of the Deoband Community Wikimedia, administrator on Commons and Urdu Wikipedia, and a Volunteer Response Team member. He is deeply involved on the ground conducting various initiatives in his community, and is passionate in helping fellow volunteers beyond his locality. Being involved in global conversations and networks of Wikimedians, I sincerely believe that he is highly capable to be part of the Affiliations Committee. --Filipinayzd (talk) 15:57, 3 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

I'm pleased to see Aafi as a candidate for AffCom this year. I've had the opportunity to meet him on Commons, where he assisted me with some technical issues. Since then, I've read about his commitment in the DCW community and the Wikimedia ecosystem in general. He's an avid member of the community and I believe the role of an AffCom member would suit him right. - Klein Muçi (talk) 13:20, 4 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

I strongly support Aafi. His efforts to support communities and users across the globe has been very helpful. I met Aafi at Wikimania 2023 where we shared ideas, talked about projects we worked on and some supports we can be able to provide for each other since then the rest has been history. His approach to supporting communities, resolving disputes and communication has been very effective and unbiased irrespective of race, gender or enthicity which defines the core principles of the Wikimedia Foundation as an open movement. I do believe if he is given this opportunity to serve on this role will bring a lot of impact to the committee and to both newly established affiliates and old affiliates at large.

Thank you
