Are averages correct?

Looking at this example it's hard to see how "Daily average 57" tallies with the graph. Johnbod (talk) 03:12, 10 July 2020 (UTC)

There are probably too many data points in that graph to see clearly. If you instead look at the monthly data, it's clear that on many months the daily views are less than the 5-year average, and sometimes considerably less, so it makes sense that the average is 57/day even if on the daily graph you see many days above that figure. Massviews with Pagepile not working?

Hi, I was trying to get the massviews for Pagepile 30515 and it says it can't find it (or any other pagepile for that matter). Regards, --RKDdata (talk) 07:22, 23 June 2020 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply. It appears to be working for me. My guess is the Pagepile service was down. MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 01:20, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

Pageviews for Special:Nearby

Tracked in Phabricator:
Task T240676

I try to load the pageviews for Special:Nearby but it doesn't give me any results (neither in sv nor en). But it works for recent changes. Is that special page too dynamic? Is it possible to get a combined view for all nearby views just to see trends of it? Ainali talkcontributions 07:42, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Only Special:Search, Special:RecentChanges and Special:Version are reported since around July 2019, following phab:T239672. The issue seems to be how to define when Special pages should count. More at phab:T240676. Sorry! MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 01:18, 15 July 2020 (UTC)

I did massviews for a category on Telugu Wikipedia and got this permalink: https://pageviews.toolforge.org/massviews/?platform=all-access&agent=user&source=category&start=2020-07-03&end=2020-07-23&subjectpage=0&subcategories=0&target=https%3A%2F%2Fte.wikipedia.org%2Fw%2Findex.php%3Ftitle%3D%25E0%25B0%25B5%25E0%25B0%25B0%25E0%25B1%258D%25E0%25B0%2597%25E0%25B0%2582%3A%25E0%25B0%25AE%25E0%25B1%2582%25E0%25B0%25B2%25E0%25B0%25BE%25E0%25B0%25B2_%25E0%25B0%25B2%25E0%25B1%258B%25E0%25B0%25AA%25E0%25B0%25BE%25E0%25B0%25B2%25E0%25B1%2581%25E0%25B0%25A8%25E0%25B1%258D%25E0%25B0%25A8_%25E0%25B0%25AA%25E0%25B1%2587%25E0%25B0%259C%25E0%25B1%2580%25E0%25B0%25B2%25E0%25B1%2581%26pagefrom%3D%25E0%25B0%2596%25E0%25B1%2581%25E0%25B0%25B0%25E0%25B0%25BE%25E0%25B0%25A8%25E0%25B1%258D%2B%25E0%25B0%25AA%25E0%25B1%2581%25E0%25B0%259F%25E0%25B1%258D%25E0%25B0%259F%25E0%25B1%2581%25E0%25B0%2595%252C%2B%25E0%25B0%25AA%25E0%25B0%25B0%25E0%25B0%25BF%25E0%25B0%25A3%25E0%25B0%25BE%25E0%25B0%25AE%25E0%25B0%2582%23mw-pages&sort=views&direction=1&view=list&target=https://te.wikipedia.org/w/index.php%3Ftitle=%25E0%25B0%25B5%25E0%25B0%25B0%25E0%25B1%258D%25E0%25B0%2597%25E0%25B0%2582:%25E0%25B0%25AE%25E0%25B1%2582%25E0%25B0%25B2%25E0%25B0%25BE%25E0%25B0%25B2_%25E0%25B0%25B2%25E0%25B1%258B%25E0%25B0%25AA%25E0%25B0%25BE%25E0%25B0%25B2%25E0%25B1%2581%25E0%25B0%25A8%25E0%25B1%258D%25E0%25B0%25A8_%25E0%25B0%25AA%25E0%25B1%2587%25E0%25B0%259C%25E0%25B1%2580%25E0%25B0%25B2%25E0%25B1%2581%26pagefrom=%25E0%25B0%2596%25E0%25B1%2581%25E0%25B0%25B0%25E0%25B0%25BE%25E0%25B0%25A8%25E0%25B1%258D%2B%25E0%25B0%25AA%25E0%25B1%2581%25E0%25B0%259F%25E0%25B1%258D%25E0%25B0%259F%25E0%25B1%2581%25E0%25B0%2595%252C%2B%25E0%25B0%25AA%25E0%25B0%25B0%25E0%25B0%25BF%25E0%25B0%25A3%25E0%25B0%25BE%25E0%25B0%25AE%25E0%25B0%2582#mw-pages, which does not work. Pageviews bug report

  Resolved.

https://pageviews.toolforge.org/?project=it.wikipedia.org&platform=all-access&agent=user&redirects=1&start=2019-07&end=2020-06&pages=Associazione_Pionieri_Italiani

When I insert "Associazione Pionieri Italiani" (it.wiki) the result is "Errore fatale: TypeError: i is undefined".

Thank you and bye, Galessandroni (talk) 17:45, 24 July 2020 (UTC)

@Galessandroni: I have fixed the fatal error, but it would seem the pageviews API doesn't like the time range you gave it. I think this is because the end date you gave it is before the page was created. For instance if I change it to July, I get data [1]. You may also wish to see daily pageviews, which gets updated every day instead of every month. See for example [2] (latest 30 days). Best, MusikAnimal (WMF) (talk) 20:54, 11 August 2020 (UTC)
Thank you @MusikAnimal (WMF):, mistake of mine. --Galessandroni (talk) 11:25, 17 August 2020 (UTC)

Bug Report

When I try to use the MassViews tool for this category with all default setting I get the error "No data found." RayScript (talk) 19:50, 16 August 2020 (UTC)

This produces two entries at 168 and 169... Shyamal (talk) 07:38, 27 August 2020 (UTC)

Pageview here differs from statistics

Siteviews Analysis here show for swwiki in July total of 2.026.777. pageviews.

https://pageviews.toolforge.org/siteviews/?platform=all-access&source=pageviews&agent=user&start=2020-07-01&end=2020-07-31&sites=sw.wikipedia.org

But Stats at https://stats.wikimedia.org/#/sw.wikipedia.org show 4.8 Mio. total pageviews in monthly overview for July.

Who is right?

More difference when I compare Siteviews Analysis looking for devices used. Here mobile views have for years been higher than desktop views for swwiki, if I remember correctly.

For 2020 the relationship is 3 Mio desktop views to 12.7 Mio mobile web views;

in Wikimedia Statistics https://stats.wikimedia.org/#/sw.wikipedia.org/reading/total-page-views/normal%7Cbar%7Call%7Caccess~desktop*mobile-app*mobile-web%7Cmonthly the numbers are generally higher (see above) but here it is 20 Mio desktop views to 15.4 Mio mobile web views (mobile app very few)

So also here: who is right? If I remember some strategy discussions, consequences were drawn from such numbers.

Kipala (talk) 14:03, 30 August 2020 (UTC) (I run firefox , win 10)

@Kipala: Siteviews by default shows only the pageviews from human users. By contrast, Wikistats apparently by default includes pageviews from spiders (search engines) as well as automated programs. If you adjust these parameters accordingly, and make sure the date ranges are the same, you'll get the same figures. For example, compare [3] vs. [4]. Top 10,000 pages?

The old stats.grok.se site had the rankings for the top 10,000 pages for a specific month (the month the last top pages list came out) and I wonder if the same could happen for each month for the new tool. It doesn't have to appear as a list but if I view the stats of a page within the top 10,000 of any given month I would like to see where in the 10,000 it ranked. Possible? 2600:1011:B119:429B:F93E:ED1:F1F7:A52E 09:52, 19 September 2020 (UTC)

Page count changed

Hi we noticed that during last few days total page count of swwiki went from about 60,300 to 59,500. Were actually pages expunged without showing or did something change in the programme? Kipala (talk) 11:52, 27 September 2020 (UTC)

(my other question was answered above already)
