I wish to submit to the group a percieved misogyny in the case of Eva Bartlett, whose reference in Wikipedia is wholly biased and defamatory, yet is linked to two other women being subject to the same insults an accusations. On the entry about her she is linked to Vanessa Beeley and Maram Susli as Conspiracy Theorists, while the men bringing forth the same news. The fact they are misrepresented so, and are some of the more notable women journalists, begs to ask: is there a prejudice being inflicted upon them despite their views? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eva_Bartlett DefenderCarew (talk) 21:01, 21 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

I meant to say: While the men supporting the same views have either had defamatory pages removed, or are not being attacked solely based on their gender. DefenderCarew (talk) 21:04, 21 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Participate in user research to design data diversity tools - humaniki [Registration Closed]

Merger of Denelezh and WHGI projects into 'humaniki'

What do Wikipedians need to make more diverse content? Better redlink listmaking? Highlighting more translation opportunities? Building editathon and campaign tracking software? Something else?

‘Humaniki’ is the merging of two previous Wikimedia data tools for diversity-focused editors - Wikidata Human Gender Indicators (WHGI) and Denelezh. Both of these previous projects enabled statistics about the biography gender gap in Wikimedia projects, but now need extra work to make those insights actionable for editors. This new WMF-grant-funded project seeks to do that work by participatory co-designing features with the editor community. The results of this study will help provide design recommendations to help develop useful features for the community -Sejal Khatri (talk)

Call for participation:

We are looking for people interested in participating in this research! Are you a diversity-focused editor? or Do you have feature suggestions? We would like to get your inputs. Research participants will receive a $10 gift card, to compensate editors for their time.

Fill the form in this link: LINK

Outcome: Alpha version of humaniki (gender diversity tool) is live for public consumption at humanikidata.org

Max and I published a big blog with screen-recordings of the new features at https://diff.wikimedia.org/2021/03/15/humaniki-march-update-public-launch-of-alpha-release/.

I reserved us a spot on the Central Notice banner for activities around March 8th (w:International Women's Day) 2021, like for instance the Wikigap events. Please let me know if you have requests for a specific (but simple) banner for your country/language/project, and let me see what I can do to create even more outreach through the projects. Would you speak with us regarding Wikidata integration into your project?

edit

Hello Wiki Loves Women editors, Wikimedia Deutschland has a new project team investigating the different ways Wikidata is being used in the other Wikimedia projects, we are particularly keen to hear from you as your work covers both underrepresented gender and language-diversity of content available or unavailable on Wikipedia and the other Wiki projects.
If you would be interested in such a discussion, we encourage you to register for an interview with us at the following link: Sign Up Here

  • The format will be a 1-hour (recorded) call.
  • Interviews can only be conducted in English (our apologies).
  • Compensation is available. More information here.
  • Interview Sessions will be held in January and February.

Please note that we probably won’t be able to have sessions with everyone who is interested. Our UX researcher will try to create a good balance of wiki contributors, e.g. in terms of wiki experience, tech experience, editing preferences, gender, disability and more. If you’re a fit, she will reach out to you to schedule an appointment. We hope to hear from you, -- Danny Benjafield (WMDE) (talk) 15:42, 8 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
