I think you overtake `alt` attribute use. Since the image has a caption,
- `alt` may be empty, to avoid repeating what the caption says.
- `alt` may clarify a supplementary meaning of the picture, e.g. “Children are interested in nature.”.

- By all means make further improvements, or consult with the users of alt content and assistive software. I do not find "Children are interested in nature" to be a representation of what the image depicts. It is also not true for all children.
