"Have you ever skied at Jackson Hole in Wyoming?

Well, there is a sign at the top of the mountain that is both enthralling and terrifying:
'Our mountain is like nothing you have skied before!
Give this mountain the special respect it demands!'
Wikimedia is that mountain."

-- Stu West, WMF Board, in discussing Wikimedia Strategic Planning

I am no longer Wikimedia Foundation staff - I'm an editor now, and enjoying it. Previously, I was the Director, Community Advocacy, for the Wikimedia Foundation. For more about my work, please see my official userpage. In my volunteer capacity, I can usually be found on en:Wikipedia (where I am an elected administrator) or meta. I previously was, by virtue of my job, a bureaucrat on the Wikimedia Strategic Planning wiki.

I was a member of the election committee for the Board of Trustees in 2007, 2008, and 2009, and was the staff liaison to the committee for 2011, 2013, and 2015.

On IRC, my username is usually Philippe.

Billinghurst "Order of the Bench"™

Benches: Perfect to sit and reflect upon a job well done
While life's path is full of doggy-do, it is the park benches that we get to appreciate what surrounds us. From your time in the park of Wikimedia, you leave this place being a manufacturer of park benches of quality and sustainability. When you walk out of the of park you can look back and see those benches, populated and enjoyed! That is a legacy.

You will always be welcome to come and sit on my bench.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:32, 20 February 2016 (UTC) (awarded to departing staff and volunteers who have made this a better place)

Thanks, Billinghurst, you made my day.  :) --Philippe (talk) 00:07, 21 February 2016 (UTC)
