Hindustanilanguage (talk) 06:41, 23 July 2012 (UTC).)
I wanted to give you a Barnstar!
editThis is to recognize your hard work on the first round of the FDC! Thanks!

Stray thoughts
edituncertainty is useful in moderation... certainty has its own attraction.

Terminology update
editDear Anasuya, I just noticed your addition of the new term "Wikimedia Project and Event Grants Program (formerly known as the Wikimedia Grants Program)". I took the liberty of updating all occurrences in that section. Please revert if I've got it wrong.
I wasn't sure if many readers will understand that "advance planning" is in opposition to "opportune". Took me a while to figure it out. Tony (talk) 21:00, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- Many thanks as always, Tony! We did think about whether to make the change throughout the text (given the status of the Framework as a critical foundational document) and decided against it, but on reflection, I think you're right: making all the name changes is useful, since it's also a foundational _reference_ document. :-)
- And re vocabulary, in this case, we were thinking of 'opportune' as referring to events that are important to the entire movement, and potentially seizing opportunities that may not have been planned for in chapters' annual plans. Our test case will be WMConf, since the discussion on who hosts it is currently ongoing. However, we do hope that events like WMConf - more recurring than singular opportunities - will be planned well in advance from now out. So the two phrases are not necessarily meant to be in opposition to each other. Thanks again, ASengupta (WMF) (talk) 21:23, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
IRC log formatting
editRe this: You may want to format it like other IRC logs, i.e. with
. PiRSquared17 (talk) 16:03, 12 February 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you, PiRSquared17! I just could *not* remember the syntax (I tried
:-)). Much appreciation. ASengupta (WMF) (talk) 17:58, 12 February 2014 (UTC)

Request for information about GAC revamp
editHi Anasuya, I have heard that GAC is getting a revamp. May I request an overview of what is happening, either on Wikimedia-l or during the July metrics meeting? Thanks, --Pine✉ 07:04, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Pine, it's still in process, so once we and the GAC sign off on it, we'll be sure to offer an overview of what it means. Essentially, we're streamlining processes, making sure the GAC has what it needs to function well, and be part of an integrated strategy across our different committees around the impact of our grants. thanks! Removal of off-topic comments
editI have dealt with this; please see my edit summary for my explanation of my actions. You can also ask Meta administrators to deal with off-topic comments if you feel that doing so yourself would put WMF in a difficult position. --Pine✉ 08:51, 4 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Pine, please do not edit comments that are made in official staff capacity by WMF staff without checking without those staff members first, as we are likely to have clear rationale for what we've done. In this case, as we want to ensure civility on these pages, our protocol (in the past, and what we followed here too) has been to retain the first instance of off-topic comments so that people do understand our unequivocal position on it, and then delete any additional comments. I understand others (including you) may have different views on this, but this was the strategy WMIL was also comfortable with. thanks, ASengupta (WMF) (talk) 02:30, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
- I'll add that I think any reversions now may simply cause more distress, which would be unhelpful, so I'll leave your edit. But I would request you, again, to check with WMF staff before you edit their official comments on an issue. thanks, ASengupta (WMF) (talk) 02:35, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Anasuya, thanks for your comments. I have needed to think about your response because I found it surprising in a few ways. I am drafting a reply off-wiki which I hope to finalize and post here tomorrow. I wanted you to know that I saw your comment, and my delay in responding is because I'm still thinking and drafting. Thanks for your patience. --Pine✉ 08:45, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Anasuya, following up on this, I have some more complicated thoughts from a community perspective, but rather than get into those right now, let me say that I understand where you're coming from. In the future I will check with staff before removing sections that include staff comments on grants talk pages. Thanks, --Pine✉ 21:03, 7 November 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Pine, many thanks for your understanding on this! There are many different ways to work on and signal the need for cultural change in communities, but do know that staff are doing their best to ensure a reasoned, respectful and well-rounded response at all times. Often after off-wiki conversations with the folks who are affected, such as WMIL in this case. Thanks for checking with staff before removing official comments, ASengupta (WMF) (talk) 18:52, 8 November 2014 (UTC)
