Traduceri

Cum experiența dumneavoastră în traduceri este redusă (se poate observa din contribuțiile pe acest site), mă simt dator să vă atrag atenția asupra câtorva aspecte.

• Nu traduceți mot-à-mot, ci adaptați conform unei exprimări libere, coerente, care nu forțează sensul termenilor.
• Există câțiva termeni care se folosesc în mod curent în traducerile cu caracter oficial și protocolar. De exemplu, nu folosim „mail” pentru a traduce „email”. „Mail” nu există în limba română și se folosește în cadrul unor jargoane cotidiene, nicidecum în cazul de față. Nici păstrarea lui „email” nu este corectă, întrucât, în dicționarele românești, acesta are cu totul al sens decât cel al unui mesaj electronic. Singura variantă viabilă este „e-mail” (cu cratimă). Aceeași indicație este valabilă și pentru „on-line” și „off-line”, care sunt cuvinte compuse.
• Nu modificați traduceri decât în cazul în care descoperiți erori ortografice sau gramaticale. Eu traduc aici și la translatewiki.net de foarte multă vreme și sunt familiarizat cu termenii folosiți la Wikipedia, așa că riscul de a nu fi consecvent este foarte mic. Sunt de acord că, uneori, exprimarea unei fraze poate fi îmbunătățită, însă fără a denatura sensul indicat de autorul original din engleză și fără a crea confuzii.

Tech News

As the year, at least according to the calendar used by Tech News, is drawing to end, I wanted to say thanks for the Tech News translations – both as a person writing Tech News and a Wikimedia editor who cares about the movement. It’s difficult enough to keep track of what’s happening if one speaks English. I’m happy there’s one place to get a weekly update of what’s happening if one doesn’t. Membership renewal
