Fundraising committee

edit

Greetings! I have been tasked by the board of the Wikimedia Foundation to select the initial membership of the newly-created Fundraising committee. Your qualifications in this area have convinced me that you would be a perfect candidate to be a consultant. If you accept this nomination, then please remove 'drafted' from your name at Fundraising committee. If you would instead prefer to be a volunteer or not involved at all, then please move or delete your name accordingly at Fundraising committee. Thank you. --Daniel Mayer 04:22, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

If you would instead like to be an advisor or member, then please say so and I will nominate you. --Daniel Mayer 12:53, 19 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

We seem to be short one spot for full members. Would you be interested in being a full member vs a consultant? --Daniel Mayer 15:29, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm afraid that external considerations would prevent me from doing that at present - sorry. --Alison Wheeler 15:49, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply
Fair enough. :) --Daniel Mayer 21:51, 22 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

In response to your comment on Danny's questions

edit

I'm Jewish as well. It's a legitimate question: How will the board react to the ongoing spates of outside vandalism we get, particularly, regarding Jews. I don't know how much time you spend in IRC, or on Recent Changes, but there is a LOT of "Jews run Wikipedia" and "Jews did WTC" vandalism. It's a legitimate question as to what is going to be done about it at a higher level than the individual administrators. Not to mention, Danny's religion has been a ....well let's leave it at it's been a controversial subject before, from certain people.

If you'll note, I've had Danny endorsed for quite some time now. You must have misread it to say that he shouldn't run because he is Jewish. That would be ridiculous. I'm saying that there WILL be vandalism over it, and there will be controversy over it, like it or not, what are the plans to do something about it. Swatjester 21:42, 22 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

OTRS Enquiry

edit

Hi AlisonW,

I saw you listed on the OTRS page. I am an administrator over at Wikibooks and I was wondering if you could answer a question that i need answering. The book b:The Guide for Electronic Theses and Dissertations is not currenly licensed under the GFDL, it is copyrighted. The owners have expressed an interest in allowing the book to be used on wikibooks. However, they are not entirely sure how to do this.

Upon holding conversations with other user's and contributors to the wikimedia projects, I am under the impression that there are two key ways of making this happen. The first involves the copyright holder altering the copyright notice on their website, the other involves the OTRS system, through the permissions channel. However, i am not familiar with the OTRS system and before i can explain how it works to the copyright owner, I need to know myself.

Would the copyright owner need to send an email directly to the OTRS channel, or could correspondance be forwarded from myself? What exactly needs to be sent in the email outlining permission? Where exactly would permission need to be sent? etc...

If you could please mull over these questions and get back to me as soon as possible, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your reply, however I feel that you have misunderstood my question. My apologies that I wasn't clearer. I wished to know more about how the process works, rather than what it does. How would confirmation of the licensing notification work? Would a note be left on the talk page by the OTRS user? Urbane 16:09, 29 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
