Overview #2 of updates on Wikimedia movement strategy process

edit

Note: Apologies for cross-posting and sending in English. This message is available for translation on Meta-Wiki.

As we mentioned last month, the Wikimedia movement is beginning a movement-wide strategy discussion, a process which will run throughout 2017. This movement strategy discussion will focus on the future of our movement: where we want to go together, and what we want to achieve.

Regular updates are being sent to the Wikimedia-l mailing list, and posted on Meta-Wiki. Each month, we are sending overviews of these updates to this page as well. Sign up to receive future announcements and monthly highlights of strategy updates on your user talk page.

Here is a overview of the updates that have been sent since our message last month:

More information about the movement strategy is available on the Meta-Wiki 2017 Wikimedia movement strategy portal.

Tamil Wiki - Movement Strategy discussion

edit

Hi Bohdan, Sorry for the delayed reply. Because we started late and the deadline was pretty tight, I did not have sufficient time to engage to get wider input. We had already gone through similar discussions in the past related to proposals to Wikimedia India Chapter (http://wiki.wikimedia.in/FDC_Proposal_2013#Recommendations_from_Tamil_Wikipedia_Community, https://ta.wikipedia.org/s/38qt) and to the Tamil Nadu government (https://ta.wikipedia.org/s/4ka9). I've compiled and added some of my own thoughts here: https://ta.wikipedia.org/s/65gg. If there is more time or opportunities to provide input at a later time, please let us know. Thank you. --Natkeeran (talk) 18:23, 21 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Hi Natkeeran. Well, as of now the first Cycle of discussion has ended on Tuesday, but there will still be two more cycles of the process. They will be more narrow, unlike the first Cycle where you could suggest anything, you would be asked to comment on specific things, derived from what people suggested in the Cycle 1, but I am sure there will be a lot of things resonating with your and your community thoughts to elaborate. --Base (WMF) (talk) 21:28, 22 April 2017 (UTC)Reply
