Hello Elfix! On behalf of the stewards' election committee, congratulations on your appointment as a steward! Your permissions have now been set and you are able to start the work.

You have been added to the list of stewards and the stewards' chart. Please take a moment to check that your details are accurate and update them if necessary. In addition, please subscribe to checkuser-l, the private mailing list for Wikimedia checkusers, and stewards-l, the private list for stewards. In addition, you will be given access to the related private wikis, one for checkusers and the other solely for stewards, details of which will be provided.

If you use IRC, please contact an operator for access to #wikimedia-checkuser and #wikimedia-privacy. Please also idle in #wikimedia-stewards when you are available for duty.

Best of luck with your new tools; I am sure you will do a fantastic job. Please remember that your fellow stewards are always available if you need a second opinion, either via the mailing list or on IRC.

Shatabisha, you can keep talking here as long as you want, but it won't bring any conclusion. Elfix made his job by providing checkuser information. Now that we know the accounts are related it is up to pt.wiki community decide about the block. If you want you can use the account "Cruks". There is no reason to block my both accounts, despite all my contributions that I have made in the last time. However. it seems to me, that pt.WP administrators are more interested to block others, instead improving the encyclopaedic content itself.--85.242.120.125 03:55, 12 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Open Proxy

edit

Just wanna say that, why my pc was blocked for editing any article? there is 'open proxy' you stamp me. just read about it a bit, and still saying what's wrong with me? need an answer soon. thx.

It means anyone can use your IP to edit Wikipedia, which I just did right now. Elfix using 72.64.146.136 10:58, 10 May 2012 (UTC).Reply
and then why anyone can use my ip, am i did something causing this, what's wrong?
If you're connecting from a shared IP (school, corporation, open wi-fi/3G access), it is probable that one of the machines inside of that network is (mis)configured as an open proxy. Elfix 17:09, 10 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
so, can this problem be fixed or that was my last chance that resulting in blocking for editing in years? anything i can do? can i get back my ip or this will always be frustating?!
If you have no other way of editing Wikipedia, you can create an account (or have someone create you an account) and have someone put an exemption on that account, so you can bypass the block. 84.101.246.215 17:40, 10 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I ask unban ip addresses: 78.85.38.105 and 78.85.28.36. Both IP are not open proxy. And both IP are static addresses. 78.85.38.105 belongs to me, and on it are two sites (www.pipel.org and www.stihisbur.org), ie it can not be a dynamic IP. 78.85.28.36 owned company where I work - Sarapulsky Electric Generator Plant. Blocking for 3 years without doing any vandalism, harm - Sorry, I cannot show thumbs up for this overkill

edit

Dear Mr. Elfix, thanks for your efforts in keeping wikipedia clean. But a 3-year-blocking of a legitime user just for using an open proxy - without doing any vandalism on wikipedia - seems to be a little overkill. Using an open proxy for anonymous surfing is refering to the all-mighty US PRISM-Programme etc. an act of self-defense and no sign for illegal activities. So, I beg you to unblock my account. Thanks!

Unblock Request

edit

Hi, I like to make constructive edits on Wikipedia, but, my ip, 69.71.1.1, is blocked globally. This IP is not an open proxy, but, my ISP has things set up in such a way that some of its customers are assigned it, as an external IP. Can my account only be unblocked? Thanks, Zaixionito (talk) 04:25, 4 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Hi. How long have you been blocked? Do you access Wikipedia with a regular broadband internet connection? Do you use mobile internet? If you prefer, you can give me this details in private by emailing stewards at wikimedia dot org. Elfix 08:21, 4 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
I've been blocked since I switched to this provider, about a year ago. I don't use mobile internet, and, because I live in a rural place, the only option for me is a WISP. My ISP buys bandwidth from a larger provider, and I think that most or all customer connections end up going through the same IP. Zaixionito (talk) 00:46, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply
Okay. I understand now. The IP was not blocked for being an open proxy, but for repeated vandalism. I will therefore not unblock it; instead, I have set up an IP exemption on your account. If you are still having trouble contributing, feel free to come back to me. Elfix 08:42, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

I think your usurpation of Io on is.wikisource is weird. Why does this rename not follow the tradition of asking an usurped user with some edits prior to the usurpation, as per Rename practices? Question

edit

  1. Libération du nom « MartinGrandjean » ;
  2. Renommage du nom « MartinGrandjean~commonswiki » vers « MartinGrandjean ».
Elfix 06:59, 21 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
Calvinius (talk) 09:59, 21 August 2015 (UTC)Reply
As you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees approved a new "Access to nonpublic information policy" on 25 April 2014 after a community consultation. The former policy has remained in place until the new policy could be implemented. That implementation work is now being done, and we are beginning the transition to the new policy.

An important part of that transition is helping volunteers like you sign the required confidentiality agreement. All Wikimedia volunteers with access to nonpublic information are required to sign this new agreement, and we have prepared some documentation to help you do so.

The Wikimedia Foundation is requiring that anyone with access to nonpublic information sign the new confidentiality agreement by 15 December 2015 (OTRS users have until 22 December 2015) to retain their access. You are receiving this email because you have access to nonpublic information and are required to sign the confidentiality agreement under the new policy.

Signing the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information is conducted and tracked using Legalpad on Phabricator. The general confidentiality agreement is now ready, and the OTRS agreement will be ready after 22 September 2015. We have prepared a guide on Meta-Wiki to help you create your Phabricator account and sign the new agreement: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information/How to sign

If you have any questions or experience any problems while signing the new agreement, please visit this talk page or email me (gvarnum wikimedia.org). Again, please sign this confidentiality agreement by 15 December 2015 (OTRS users have until 22 December 2015) to retain your access to nonpublic information. If you do not wish to retain this access, please let me know and we will forward your request to the appropriate individuals.

You are receiving this email because you have been identified as an OTRS volunteer and are required to sign the confidentiality agreement under the new policy. If you do not sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015, you will lose your OTRS access. OTRS volunteers have a specific agreement available, if you have recently signed the general confidentiality agreement for another role (such as CheckUser or Oversight), you do not need to sign the general agreement again, but you will still need to sign the OTRS agreement.

Signing the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information is conducted and tracked using Legalpad on Phabricator.

Again, please sign this confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain your OTRS access. If you do not wish to retain this access, please let me know and we will forward your request to the appropriate individuals.

Thank you,
Gregory Varnum (User:GVarnum-WMF), Wikimedia Foundation

I wanted to follow-up on an message I sent you in September regarding the need for you to sign a confidentiality agreement by 15 December 2015 (OTRS users have until 31 December 2015) in order to maintain your access from Wikimedia to nonpublic information.

As you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees approved a new "Access to nonpublic information policy" on 25 April 2014 after a community consultation. The former policy has remained in place until the new policy could be implemented. That implementation work is now being done, and we are transitioning to the new policy.

An important part of that transition is helping volunteers like you sign the required confidentiality agreement. All Wikimedia volunteers with access to nonpublic information are required to sign this new agreement, and we have prepared some documentation to help you do so.

The Wikimedia Foundation is requiring that anyone with access to nonpublic information sign the new confidentiality agreement by 15 December 2015 (OTRS users have until 31 December 2015) to retain their access. You are receiving this message because you have access to nonpublic information and are required to sign the confidentiality agreement under the new policy. If you do not sign the new confidentiality agreement by 15 December 2015, you will lose your access to nonpublic information.

Signing the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information is conducted and tracked using Legalpad on Phabricator. We have prepared a guide on Meta-Wiki to help you create your Phabricator account and sign the new agreement: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information/How to sign

I am the First Administrator of Sindhi Wikipedia and have been blocked

edit

Dear Elfix, I am the first-ever administrator of Sindhi wikipedia sd:Main Page. I was the only administrator active since 2006.

Yesterday, I've become victim of a recent administrator (temporary), https://sd.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D9%8A%D9%88%D8%B2%D8%B1_%D8%A8%D8%AD%D8%AB:%D9%85%D8%AD%D9%85%D8%AF_%D9%85%D8%AC%DB%8C%D8%A8 who has blocked me for one year without any notice. I wonder, how a temporary administrator can block a Permanent Administrator. The user https://sd.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D9%8A%D9%88%D8%B2%D8%B1_%D8%A8%D8%AD%D8%AB:%D8%B9%D9%84%D9%8A_%D9%86%D9%88%D8%A7%D8%B2

has vandalized the Main page, removing almost all prominent features maintained be me and has made the Sindhi Wikipedia a Religious Platform with unilateral extremist religious islamic views, without any references.

It is therefore requested that I may be returned all my RIGHTS of ADMINISTRATION back.

Oh I missed that you followed

edit

Hey man. I missed your resignation as I don't track the SR... pages any more. Thanks for all your efforts over time; I really appreciated your good work and the chats. All the best with the career and RL. Hope that you will still be around. :-)  — billinghurst sDrewth 14:13, 9 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Billinghurst "Order of the Bench"™

edit
Benches: Perfect to sit and reflect upon a job well done
While life's path is full of doggy-do, it is the park benches that we get to appreciate what surrounds us. From your time in the park of Wikimedia, you leave this place being a manufacturer of park benches of quality and sustainability. When you walk out of the of park you can look back and see those benches, populated and enjoyed! That is a legacy.

You will always be welcome to come and sit on my bench.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:33, 20 February 2016 (UTC) (awarded to departing staff and volunteers who have made this a better place)Reply
