Funcs
Hey Funcs,
It took me some time to realize it was you, Safunny. Congratulations on taking on this challenging role.
You've stepped into a position with immense responsibility. Being a bureaucrat on Wikipedia is not just about holding administrative powers; it’s about embodying the values of the project, maintaining a delicate balance between freedom of expression and respectful conduct, and ensuring that a diverse community feels included and valued. Such a role demands a strong backbone, broad judgment, and the ability to handle criticism from all sides, often without immediate recognition for your efforts.
Moreover, as a bureaucrat, you bear the weight of fostering trust and collaboration within the community. This involves setting an example, being a reliable mediator in conflicts, and championing transparency in decision-making. The role is both a privilege and a challenge, requiring resilience and an unwavering commitment to the mission of open knowledge.
Part of this responsibility involves ensuring that Wikipedia adheres to its core principles: respect for all human beings, regardless of religion, race, gender, nationality, or identity. A community like Wikipedia thrives when it upholds these universal values of equality and dignity. Moreover, Wikipedia must remain a beacon of truth by relying on reliable, high-quality sources, avoiding myths, conspiracy theories, and alternative facts that undermine the integrity of the project.
I don't know if you're aware, but there's a request for you to share what you're doing, as a bureaucrat, to restore trust in Hebrew Wikipedia, as a final point before moving forward with the process. Personally, I believe there’s no one willing to listen on the other side, but some think you might be the exception. Therefore, I offer this opportunity for you to present a different perspective on the behavior currently prevalent in the Wikipedia community you now lead.
