Database exports

edit

Incubator and other wikis exports can be found here. These are XML, they will need to include contributor information for copyright reasons. --JimKillock (talk) 20:47, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

@JimKillock: yeah that’s what I meant. There’s no Middle English here. I want it to include the contributor information as this is not less important than the text itself. -Gifnk dlm 2020 (talk) 20:54, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
The Middle English Wiki is contained within the Incubator, so all of the ME information will be in that export. It must contain the contributor information for copyright reasons. If you want to see what it looks like, you should download the inclubator database, and then try importing it into a new, blank Wiki. You will end up with all of the Incubator, including contribution histories, and you will have to remove content, but the contributor list will be in there, albeit you won't have the personal data, eg emails, associated with the users. There may also be a means to allow a new user to reclaim old user accounts, perhaps throught the admin system. --JimKillock (talk) 20:57, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
OK I see. But I don’t want to import it I want to view it offline. Of course personal data shouldn’t be included. It’s from September 2 so some edits will be missing. -Gifnk dlm 2020 (talk) 21:05, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
You could view it "offline" by setting up a home webserver, setting up Mediawiki on that, importing the data, and view the wiki pages off that at a local (home server) address. Given this is wiki data, you want the edit history and the page data, it has to be viewed in Wiki software capable of matching all that up, don't you think? --JimKillock (talk) 21:09, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
@JimKillock:, ok I see thanks. But the problem still remains that the latest dump is from quite some while ago and doesn’t include the latest changes. -Gifnk dlm 2020 (talk) 21:20, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
Is it possible for regular users (without privileges) to create dumps? -Gifnk dlm 2020 (talk) 21:26, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
I think you have to be an admin, but you can ask an admin on the incubator site for an up to date dump immediately before ME is removed. I imagine they will be sympathetic, they may even have a better process built for such exports, that gives you precisely what you need and no more, as they won't want to inconvenience people. If for some reason that doesn't work out, https://dumps.wikimedia.org says they are generated around twice a month, so the worst case is around two weeks of edits. --JimKillock (talk) 21:40, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply
@JimKillock:, thanks for the advice. I have asked. -Gifnk dlm 2020 (talk) 21:53, 5 September 2021 (UTC)Reply

Please, no more socking

edit

You were lying (really, l-y-i-n-g) that you don't have any sock accounts, but we've found at least 50+ sock accounts of you, where they are all disclosing "Formerly edited as User:Gifnk dlm 2020", your socking history records well, and however how such socking log populations are having benefits from all the WMF sites' editors? Better to investigate more about users' feeling of your accounts before asking to create new socks. Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 10:36, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply
