Welcome to Meta!
editHello GreenZeb, and welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Wikimedia Forum (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). If you would like, feel free to ask me questions on my talk page. Happy editing! Cbrown1023 talk 16:59, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
CentralNotice statuses
editHello GreenZeb and thanks for helping to translate CentralNotice/Usability Initiative into lv/latviešu! However, it looks like you forgot to update the translation status template. If you forget to update the status, then we won't see your translation update and it won't get done. :-( Here are the statuses that you need to know:
- needs proofreading – when the message has been translated, but it needs proofreading by speakers of the language
- needs updating – we use this to tell the translators that the source translation was updated and now the translation needs to be updated too
- ready – you guys use this to tell us that the translation is ready to be published
- published – we use this to tell you that the translation has been published
If you update a translation after it was already published, please make sure to change the status back to "ready" again too.
I hope this helps and if you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to contact me on my talk page. Thanks again for your translation help and sorry for the confusion! Cbrown1023 talk 16:59, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
Editor Appeals Need Translations
editI want to thank you for your help translating during this year's fundraiser. The fundraiser has greatly benefited from all your contributions. Currently, the appeals from Wikipedia editors Kartika, Liliaroja, Abbas and Joan Gomà need to be translated and localized. Also some core messages need to be updated for certain languages. You can find all translation requests at the translation hub on meta and you can follow the progress of the fundraiser in real time by tracking the fundraiser statistics. Also for those of you who haven't already, you can subscribe to the translators-l mailing list for all new requests and major changes. Many thanks for your help in truly making this a global fundraiser that you can edit. schapman
Translator, We need you!
editDear GreenZeb,
You have helped us in previous years with translations and for that we are most grateful. Now we turn towards the 2011/12 fundraiser. It may seem forever away, but work has already begun getting everything ready to go. This year we want to have landing pages covering as many countries in as many languages as possible.
Right now, we want to figure out who is interested in translating for the fundraiser. This year we're hoping to have more of a solidified "core" group of translators that we can count on to have work done by a few key dates, but we'd also welcome help from people who are willing to just help out when they can.
If you would be interested please take a look at this little sign-up survey and fill it out http://survey.wikimedia.org/index.php?sid=13638&newtest=Y&lang=en. With that we can start building a list of people and filling any gaps in the languages we serve.
Many Thanks

WikiNEM registration
editHi, I have been meaning to send you the registration form for WikiNEM through the "Email this user" function, but my action is throttled as I have sent out to many emails. I have waited one day but it is still throttled. I will try tomorrow evening as well, but you can also send me an email to john.andersson at wikimedia.se and I will send you the link for the registration form. Queering Wikipedia 2023 conference
editWikimedia LGBT+ User Group and the organizing team of Queering Wikipedia is delivering the Queering Wikipedia 2023 Conference for LGBT+ Wikimedians and allies, as a hybrid, bilingual and trans-local event. It is online on 12, 14 and 17 May, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia #IDAHOBIT, with offline events at around 10 locations on 5 continents in the 5-day span as QW2023 Nodes.
The online program is delivered as a series of keynotes, panels, presentations, workshops, lightning talks and creative interventions, starting on Friday noon (UTC) with the first keynote of Dr Nishant Shah entitled: I spy, with my little AI — Wikiway as a means to disrupt the ‘dirty queer’ impulses of emergent AI platforms. Second keynote is at Sunday’s closure by Esra’a Al Shafei, Wikimedia Foundation’s Board of Trustees vice chair, entitled: Digital Public Spaces for Queer Communities.
If you have been an active Wikimedian or enthusiast, supporting LGBT+ activities or if you identify as part of the larger LGBT+ community and allies in Wikimedia, please join us in advancing this thematic work. We encourage you to join online or in person with fellow Wikimedians if it is easy and safe to do so. Our working languages are English and Spanish, with possible local language support at sites of Nodes.
Registration for the online event is free and is open until Wednesday May 10th at 18:00 UTC, for safety protocol. Late event registration approval and event access denial is at the discretion of organizers.
More information, and registration details, may be found on Meta at QW2023
