Hello Jon Awbrey, and welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Meta:Metapub (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). If you would like, feel free to ask me questions on my talk page. Happy editing!

- Mike, et al., I'm not sure what kinds of bots you have running on that Talk:Spam Badlist page, but Firefox1 keeps giving me warning messages about "unresponsive scripts" and then locks up, while Microsoft Internet Explorer2 just freezes up without any warning. So we'll probably have to find a different location to continue the discussion that we started over there. JonAwbrey 23:56, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
- 1, 2 No promotional considerations have been received for mentioning the names of these two very fine browsers. JonAwbrey 23:56, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
Jon, you have said that you are doing this on sites you are active on[1], however you are not active on English Wikisource (yet). Is your new user page there a sign of things to come?? If so, can I help you get started? :-) Cheers, John Vandenberg 03:33, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
John, in the place cited I was referring to sites on the Web in general, not just WMF sites. But please see the rest of my reply on my Wikiversity talk page, as something there is that does not like my browser at this Meta site, so I will avoid coming here again if I can. Thanks, JonAwbrey 04:54, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
- No further discussion is required in any case - there is a strong consensus that you need to stop and that the links will be blacklisted if you spam new wikis or revert on others. — Mike.lifeguard | talk 10:48, 11 September 2008 (UTC)
Your account will be renamed
editHello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Jon Awbrey. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Jon Awbrey~metawiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
