As I have written on Talk:Spam blacklist, I'm sure that the spambotmaster (the one who uses those "overflow" blocks) will immediatly find another way to spam, this time using no more invisible blocks. Maybe tomorrow, or after two days. And still sending hundreds od spams (do not forget that, yesterday, I've blanked or reverted 645 pages, and that I'm beginning to understand how he thinks, after observing how he acts). :o)

I would like to find myself some tips to stop him for a long time, but I have no technical knowledges to do that. The only thing I can do is to spend hours to patrol and blank pages which need to be blanked (and think each time that where I spent hours, the bot needed only 15 to 20 minutes to spam all the wikis...) :o) Hégésippe | ±Θ± 15:07, 19 January 2006 (UTC)

My concern is that we are losing the battle against the spam onslaught. People like you will burn out and give up. I am trying to get a dialogue on how to help the small wikis to survive. The large wikis will always find the human resources and strategies to stay afloat, barely. I understand there is resistance to adding filters to the $wgSpamRegex in LocalSettings.php. I understand the spammers will switch tactics, but only by engaging the enemy can you learn how to improve. I setup a $wgSpamRegex filter list at KatrinaHelp.info and the spam has tappered of to nothing for the past 12 days. I am not using a URL blacklist. For more discussion see Spamhuntress

We have problems in the Spanish Wiki, the bot don't realize correctly the job, please register the bot first in es:Wikipedia:Bot/Autorizaciones, until obtain the autorization and the flag in this wiki. --Taichi - (あ！) 09:42, 24 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi there, this is a half-assed response to the note you left me a while back. Like you, I don't have the time to start hacking at the SpamBlacklist extension at the moment (I'll be finished with college one of these days; maybe then...), so here's what I've been doing to get by in the meantime. My solution for a while has been relying on several blacklists: Meta's, chonqed's, my list of things that have gotten through the previous two, and I've just added MySeattle's to the roster, to be updated pretty much every time I ssh into the server. I also block all the IP addresses spam comes from. So far the spam's been under control; perhaps one every couple days. —Alxndr ^(t) 04:07, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
