Welcome to Meta!
editHello, MathXplore. Welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Wikimedia Forum if you need help with something (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). Also worthwhile acquainting yourself with the functions of global user pages. Happy editing!
A simple note and some appreciation
editSince you have very good cross-wiki activity, I think you will do very well as a new global sysop, handling and defending the smaller wikis as you are an admin on some content projects. I also believe that if you create and manage abuse filters on some content wikis, you could be a good candidate for the global abuse filter helper role. No matter the cost, keep up the good work! - I second this. --SHB2000 (t • c) 01:01, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, less than 6 months have passed since my 1st RFA (simplewikt), less than 3 months have passed since the CFC (ENWV), and less than a month has passed since the latest RFA (simplewiki). I think it is too fast for GS. We may discuss this again in the future, but I think today is not the day. MathXplore (talk) 15:13, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- That's understandable. Maybe at the end of this year? --SHB2000 (t • c) 02:29, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- I'm not sure about my schedule for the next December, but I think that might be a possible option. MathXplore (talk) 03:34, 18 May 2024 (UTC)
- I submitted my GS candidacy less than a month after my previous RfA. Just saying that I'd definitely support you at any time. ~~~~
User:1234qwer1234qwer4 (talk) 20:11, 13 July 2024 (UTC)- Thank you for the feedback, but I think we have another important discussion, I would like to wait for its closure before requesting GS. MathXplore (talk) 06:30, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
- It’s been 3 months since that discussion was closed. Are you still considering it? I’d be happy to support as well. XXBlackburnXx (talk) 17:27, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, my schedule has recently changed and I don't have enough time to apply for requesting GS and responding to the discussions. Thank you for the reminder and feedback. MathXplore (talk) 02:07, 17 November 2024 (UTC)

- My current involvement to abuse filters is about suggesting AF imports, helping people mistakenly hit by AFs, etc. rather than implementation. I think this is too far for AFH. Most of the projects where I'm (semi-) active already have active AF maintainers (including current AFHs and GSs), so if I'm going to request any kind of AF-related permissions, I think I should discuss with the current local AF maintainers before application. - I came here to say this. With your extensive work, it would save some of your edits to GSR and will be very helpful to the Wikimedia community and since you frequently do small-wiki patrolling by SWViewer, having extra tools has no harm. Please consider, and thanks for your work! – Svārtava (tɕ) 07:42, 17 December 2024 (UTC)
- Greetings. One project where I'm semi-active requires sufficient activity level or +1 year Wikimedia sysop experience for the possession of advanced permissions. I do not satisfy any of these conditions as of today. Since my current unstable schedule will continue until next March, and next spring will be my 1st anniversary of being a Wikimedia sysop, I think the next spring or summer will be my chance to apply for GS so I can have enough time to respond for discussions and avoid RFP-rushing concerns. Please also note that I have other offers (such as q:Special:Diff/3630799 and more), and my schedule for applying GS may change based on such factors. Thank you for the feedback. Level of reporting SRG
editHey MathXplore. I'm reaching out because of the number of reports that you have been making to SRG about VPN IP addresses. Right now, a fair chunk of IP addresses appear not to need crosswiki intervention, if they have edited at all. You also simply state "VPN" which doesn't allow us to evaluate anything further if there is more to the request. My message comes on the heals of this report, where you reported a school IP as a VPN. It's long been stated that proxy checking services are not 100% and that is why they need human review before being posted to SRG. Beyond that, anything that is posted on SRG really needs to have a cross-wiki component. SRG is not a replacement for local admins or global sysops taking action on one wiki. I would ask that moving forward you limit your VPN reports to abuse that crosses multiple wikis that aren't related (aka enwiki & commons can handle themselves) or has extreme abuse. -- Amanda (she/her) 02:19, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, I already know that SRG is not a replacement for local admins or global sysops taking action on one wiki, and I thought that my requests were part of this scope. I didn't notice the school IP. Apologies for the disturbance and thank you for the feedback. MathXplore (talk) 11:59, 19 December 2024 (UTC)
