Hello, MathXplore. Welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Wikimedia Forum if you need help with something (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). Also worthwhile acquainting yourself with the functions of global user pages. Happy editing!

A simple note and some appreciation

edit

Since you have very good cross-wiki activity, I think you will do very well as a new global sysop, handling and defending the smaller wikis as you are an admin on some content projects. I also believe that if you create and manage abuse filters on some content wikis, you could be a good candidate for the global abuse filter helper role. No matter the cost, keep up the good work! Codename Noreste 🤔 La Suma 00:57, 17 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

I second this. --SHB2000 (tc) 01:01, 17 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello, less than 6 months have passed since my 1st RFA (simplewikt), less than 3 months have passed since the CFC (ENWV), and less than a month has passed since the latest RFA (simplewiki). I think it is too fast for GS. We may discuss this again in the future, but I think today is not the day. MathXplore (talk) 15:13, 17 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
That's understandable. Maybe at the end of this year? --SHB2000 (tc) 02:29, 18 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure about my schedule for the next December, but I think that might be a possible option. MathXplore (talk) 03:34, 18 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I submitted my GS candidacy less than a month after my previous RfA. Just saying that I'd definitely support you at any time. ~~~~

Thank you for the feedback, but I think we have another important discussion, I would like to wait for its closure before requesting GS. MathXplore (talk) 06:30, 14 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
It’s been 3 months since that discussion was closed. Are you still considering it? I’d be happy to support as well. XXBlackburnXx (talk) 17:27, 16 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hello, my schedule has recently changed and I don't have enough time to apply for requesting GS and responding to the discussions. Thank you for the reminder and feedback. MathXplore (talk) 02:07, 17 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
My current involvement to abuse filters is about suggesting AF imports, helping people mistakenly hit by AFs, etc. rather than implementation. I think this is too far for AFH. Most of the projects where I'm (semi-) active already have active AF maintainers (including current AFHs and GSs), so if I'm going to request any kind of AF-related permissions, I think I should discuss with the current local AF maintainers before application. MathXplore (talk) 15:18, 17 May 2024 (UTC)Reply
I came here to say this. With your extensive work, it would save some of your edits to GSR and will be very helpful to the Wikimedia community and since you frequently do small-wiki patrolling by SWViewer, having extra tools has no harm. Please consider, and thanks for your work! – Svārtava (tɕ) 07:42, 17 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
Greetings. One project where I'm semi-active requires sufficient activity level or +1 year Wikimedia sysop experience for the possession of advanced permissions. I do not satisfy any of these conditions as of today. Since my current unstable schedule will continue until next March, and next spring will be my 1st anniversary of being a Wikimedia sysop, I think the next spring or summer will be my chance to apply for GS so I can have enough time to respond for discussions and avoid RFP-rushing concerns. Please also note that I have other offers (such as q:Special:Diff/3630799 and more), and my schedule for applying GS may change based on such factors. Thank you for the feedback. MathXplore (talk) 08:27, 17 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
(Revive this topic) It's March 2025. If you run for GS I will give you a ss. ⋆˚。⋆୨✧୧˚ 𝙇𝙄𝙉𝙃 ˚୨✧୧⋆。˚⋆🎀 𝑪𝑼𝑻𝑬 🎀 13:07, 14 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
100%, it's long overdue. Svārtava (tɕ) 16:30, 14 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
I third this. I really encourage you to go ahead and submit your application, you will pass for sure. 春はもう、来たよ, and before you know it, it will be 春吹雪. Jianhui67 talkcontribs 13:55, 15 March 2025 (UTC)Reply
Hello, I was expecting to have more time this spring, but I recently learned that this is not going to be true. The situation may change in the future, but I don't know when.
Last year, I was away from homewikis for 5 consecutive days several times, and this has already caused disappointment to the affected local projects. I don't want this to happen during discussions. I think I should wait until I'm free from such inconvenience.
In addition, I had more feedback like these (q:Special:Diff/3674572, d:Special:Diff/2298041549, and more in off-wiki discussions). If I apply for GS, then I may need to postpone others, and this may also affect the management of other projects. I think I may apply for GS someday, but I don't see an urgent reason for it.
Sorry for not meeting expectations, and thank you for the feedback. MathXplore (talk) 13:11, 19 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Admin on Meta

edit

I see you declined to be global sysop, but I still want to ask you. Do you want to be an admin here? If yes, I will nominate you. – Phương Linh (T · C · CA · L · B) 11:21, 19 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Hello, please note that I did not meant to decline GS, I'm only postponing this for a better timing for me. Please also note that I had another reservation (w:simple:Special:Diff/10190249, w:simple:Special:Diff/10191832) before this message, which means I may have more pending RFA/RFPs. I plan to help here as much as possible and RFA may be an option in the future, but I think clearing other RFP/RFAs may need to be done first. Thank you for your feedback and assistance to the project. MathXplore (talk) 11:30, 19 April 2025 (UTC)Reply
Okay, no problem. Take care of your health. I’m quite impressed by the way you work, somewhat like a “lone wolf.” Also if you need the patrol right to patrol edits here, just let me know. – Phương Linh (T · C · CA · L · B) 11:42, 19 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Translations by multiple Japan IPs

edit

Good day. Recently, we've had a few Japanese IPs contributing translations on Meta-Wiki, with a very large number of edits. However, there was a report at WM:RFH by a user suggesting that the IP(s) might be adding AI-generated or machine-translated content. I'd like to ask if you could take a look at some of the translations from these IP addresses to check whether the translations are low-quality or not. Here's the list:
