Hi there, I'm a programmer who's also an ex boyscout, I'm willing to help out with this project. I guess first step is making a formal specification. I'm new to wiki but already love it and am currently building [my own site] with wiki (hopefully publicly available soon) :-)
- Good luck with your recreational wiki. You may want to look at en:Wikipedia:WikiProject Geographical coordinates and the corresponding Gis extension, see Gis. -- Egil 17:26, 24 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- This sounds like a great idea. I started something like this but never put much time into it ([travel wiki]. For a different project all together we've been thinking about doing something like [dmoz] which uses RDF to allow easy cross categorization of items. We're probably using a wiki as the end document but feel that something like dmoz lends itself better to things where you want to categorize many-to-many data sets. Anyway - I'd be interested in helping... let me know if you need anything wiseleyb@gmail.com kirkland, wa
Sounds like a good idea - I can help out with a few climbing areas (in Canada and the U.S.), and I know a little bit about programming. A couple suggestions - what about having the ability for people to create pages describing their personal experiences at the locations, as well as a section for events or even just trip partners (by location/geographical area). -- Charlotte
