I strongly agree with the need for a major commitment to documentation. I wonder if you'd take a look at my proposal (not yet moved to main space, but I plan to refine it and do so within the next 12 hours or so). I think it could be a good incremental step in that direction, if not an overall solution. It's on my to-do list, though, I'll let you know when it's done. Someone else on IRC also mentioned adding it to Planet, I'm less certain though as my blog is a little bit generalist...but it people think it should happen I'll post it up, certainly. The validator doesn't like it either and I don't see how a non-standard format like "2015/10/31" could work.
