--Bellayet 04:15, 1 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

--Bellayet 10:08, 1 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

--Bellayet 17:04, 1 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello T@nv!r, I told Thogo, a steward of my trust about this, since I am not a steward anymore (no time for this), I can't help You much, only say this: to get sysop status there a voting would be needed, since there are so few users, just make a local announcement and put a request for sysop on srp, You will get temporary sysopship, which is technically the same, and can be prolonged after it expired of course, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 17:04, 9 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello Wikitanvir.

I noticed that you translated the fundraiser's core messages into বাংলা (bn), thank you for your help! Although the fundraiser is over, your translation work will still be used until next November (when we get new forms).

Unfortunately, there are some missing messages and pages that were not included in the original request. Would you mind translating these supplementary messages too?

Translation Update

edit

I want to thank you for your help translating throughout this year's fundraiser. The fundraiser has greatly benefited from all your contributions. Currently, the Kartika, Liliaroja, Abbas and Joan Gomà appeals need to be translated, as we are running appeals from editors. You can find all translation requests at the translation hub on meta and you can follow the progress of the fundraiser in real time by tracking the fundraiser statistics. It is important to check the Core Messages as many languages still need updating. Also if you haven't already, you can subscribe to the translators-l mailing list for all new requests and major changes. Many thanks for your help in truly making this a global fundraiser that you can edit.Klyman 20:25, 7 December 2010 (UTC)Reply

edit

Your robot adds wrong interwikis to this subject. Most of your interwikis link to gynephilia. I have fixed them on some projekcts (mainly on plwiki). On some projects (enwiki) exists ony "Androphilia and gynephilia" and in this case such a link is OK. But on others there are specific articles "Androphilia" and in such a case the link should be correctly to these pages. yours, --Emanek 08:04, 17 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

An offering for our new administrator from your comrades... (our budget is smaller than Commons)

Wikitanvir, congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Meta. Please take a moment to read the Meta:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat, and Meta:Requests for deletion, but also Talk:Spam blacklist and Talk:Interwiki map), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care.

A tip: add this page Meta:Administrators' discussion index to your watchlist, it tracks the latest activity to various sections of many of the important pages.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-admin @ irc.freenode.net. You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading although it doesn't always completely apply here at Meta.

Please also check or add your entry to Meta:Administrators#List_of_administrators and the Template:List of administrators.

Lists

edit

I removed myself because there is no need for me to be on it while I'm inactive. That list serves as a contact information sheet for all global sysops - while I'm inactive, there's no need for anyone to contact me, and in fact I'd like to prevent it. If the list isn't for contacting purposes, then all it is is a vanity list, which I wouldn't want to be a part of even when I'm active. Ajraddatz (Talk) 04:06, 8 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Actually it's not like that IMO. All global sysops should be on that list. It's a list like we maintain one for stewards, because that gives a summary of all users with those privileges, and you are a part of it. We have both inactive stewards an GSes. There is no policy which prevents you to remove yourself from the list though. So, if you really want to remove you again, go ahead. But then, that list will seem outdated. But as I told, removing someone while s/he holds the right is not the common practice here. You can put "(inactive now)" next to your name though. :) — Tanvir | Talk ] 04:17, 8 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
And you have already placed the notice on your user and talk page, so if someone go there to contact with you, they will get the message anyway. :) — Tanvir | Talk ] 04:20, 8 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Well, there is an automatic fancy list of people with global sysop rights, but I suppose it doesn't hurt for me to be on two. Just a list, I guess. Also, not sure why I didn't think of the talk page message before. That seems like the very obvious thing to do... oh well. At least I remembered about it. Ajraddatz (Talk) 04:26, 8 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
Heh, fancy list.. yeah, well said. The problem with that fancy list is that does not provide your babel and IRC nick to contact you, while it's very good at verifying. :P BTW, your notice style on your talk page looks great. :D — Tanvir | Talk ] 04:30, 8 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Translator, We need you!

edit

Dear Wikitanvir,

You have helped us in previous years with translations and for that we are most grateful. Now we turn towards the 2011/12 fundraiser. It may seem forever away, but work has already begun getting everything ready to go. This year we want to have landing pages covering as many countries in as many languages as possible.

Right now, we want to figure out who is interested in translating for the fundraiser. This year we're hoping to have more of a solidified "core" group of translators that we can count on to have work done by a few key dates, but we'd also welcome help from people who are willing to just help out when they can.

If you would be interested please take a look at this little sign-up survey and fill it out http://survey.wikimedia.org/index.php?sid=13638&newtest=Y&lang=en. With that we can start building a list of people and filling any gaps in the languages we serve.

Many Thanks

Unblocking

edit

For the reference, the warning I gave on IRC:

Tanvir: FYI, this: http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special%3ALog&type=block&user=Wikitanvir&page=User%3AAbigor&year=&month=-1&tagfilter=
will result in a speedy desysop next time.

<Barras> There is a reason why he is blocked and to edit SRP isn't a reason to even temp unblock him
<Barras> That is his fault and he should have thought about it before he did all the crap.

<Barras> He is blocked so he "can't* disrupt us with further edit.
<Barras> He should have thought about it before he created this vandal account and played us.

<Barras> Once again, overrule a CU block again and you lose your rights. It is a *CU block* which only
ever should be (if even) overruled by another CU.
<Barras> And it is absolutely not problem that he did all that crap
<Barras> He should have thought about it before.

Sorry, just too lazy to reformat and stuff, it is just for the on-wiki reference. See it as a reminder, not really as a warning, but I'm somewhat sick of this case, that it really annoys me to see this. -Barras 11:36, 12 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I've been deleting wrong interwiki links on the German Page de:Verfahrensrecht for a while, and various bots, including yours, keep putting them there over and over again. I don't speak all the languages in question, but I strongly assume all of the words mean "Legal case", which is a mistranslation of "Verfahrensrecht". The correcht translation is "Procedural law".

Would it be possible to prevent your bot from further edits on that page? In case you understand German, also see the talk page. Thanks --Kybing 13:07, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for the quick reply. No, the recent edits since my previous deletion have been done by bots only. But yes, your bot wasn't first, it was probably just following MerlIwBot. But that's part of the general problems with bots, sometimes they seem to spread or multiply mistakes made by others (bots OR humans). I don't know much about programming, but I've been asking myself if bots could be programmed so they recognize if an edit they are about to perform has been deleted before (or at least, if it has been deleted before by humans), and in case it has, not proceed. --Kybing 13:58, 13 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Btw Mirzali is admin but he doesnt really care Zazaki or rules of Wikipedia. They just try to show that , there are many articles in Zazaki. Few weeks ago , there were 4000 articles but now there are 11,304. and all new articles created by same person (Erdemaslancan). I wrote him . I wanted him to stop vandalism, but he did not stop. I want you to help. Look at articles that he created Have a nice day. --Gomada 17:08, 9 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

CentralNotice

edit

Hey Tanvir! Just a heads-up, it's usually better to not create messages in a notice translation if they're exactly the same as the default. For example, in the image filter referendum notices, we should only create a URL message if there's actually a translation that we're pointing to, not if we're just pointing to the general Image filter referendum page. This makes things a lot easier to update and to track. If we leave it at the default, the only messages that would have to be updated would be the ones we changed. We can also easily see which notices still need to be pointed to translated pages if we wait to create them, because they won't exist unless they're pointing to a translated page. Thanks for helping! Oops, I didn't know that. Well, I will remember that next time! Thanks for letting me know! — Tanvir | Talk ] 00:41, 17 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi Tanvir! Whenever you change translation's status form "ready" to "published" you should check whether CentralNotice text is up to date: pifreferendum-message/pl, pifreferendum-readmore-text/pl. Sincerely, --Mikołka 20:24, 17 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Sorry and updated. Thank you! — Tanvir | Talk ] 00:16, 18 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Why Arab Games - Doha 2011 page is deleted?

edit

Hi am a member of the Organising Committee of the Arab Games - Doha 2011 and want to create a new page about the same. When I try to do that its been deleted. Can you please tell me what can be done to have a page which we can update with all the information we have. There are other pages like 2011 Pan Arab Games. But the one we create is with the right name as it is no longer Pan Arab ot is only Arab Games .... kindly advice — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Arab Games - Doha 2011 (talk) August 18, 2011, 15:51 (UTC)

Out of scope, that's why. — Tanvir | Talk ] 10:33, 18 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

What do you mean by that? How can we generate a new page as we cant edit the existing page 2011 Pan Arab Games... the information on this page is false and we need to change it but the changes are not implemented so we wanted to create a newpage but that too doesnt seem to be working as you keep removing it, so suggest us something believable. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Arab Games - Doha 2011 (talk) August 18, 2011, 16:37 (UTC)

Meta-Wiki is not a place for that. It is related to Wikipedia. See 2011 Pan Arab Games. Thanks! — Tanvir | Talk ] 10:42, 18 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Am new on this, just help me in creating a new page either in wikipedia or meta-wiki or any other wiki form, let me know how can I create a new page... please — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Arab Games - Doha 2011 (talk) August 18, 2011, 16:45 (UTC)

Meta is not the place to create such pages or ask such questions anyway. Wikipedia has a place too ask questions, see the help desk. Thanks! — Tanvir | Talk ] 10:48, 18 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Shepherd clan (rise and fall)

edit

Dear Wikitanvir,

I think you deleted my recent article on the Shepherd Clan. I am a history student about to go into my final year at edbinburgh and know a lot about this subject ( maybe i presented it poorly?) it was my first article- could you please tell me what was wrong with it? With reference to your deletion policy, it seems you deleted it on the grounds of being irrelevant. However in the context of Scottish Clan/ genealogical history it is of interest. It could indeed be useful to students who may wish to explore the wide ranging references i posted to support points.

Thank you in advance for any advice you can offer me thanks, john — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Vladamirillich (talk) August 18, 2011, 16:53 (UTC)

Candidate statements

edit

Greetings. I see that you made this formatting change to my candidate statement, and I understand why. However, the instructions for applying say "Edit the page with the following information: ... a link to your user account on Meta, and a link to a second active account that meets the prerequisites." There is already a built-in link to my userpage on meta, so I think it follows the instructions best for me to link to my English Wikipedia page in the title. (The prerequisites are met at that account) I'ts also the account that gives the best information about me and my contributions to Wikimedia projects. All the best, Quadell 15:05, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

In addition, I have to respectfully disagree with this edit. The instructions ask that nominees be listed "IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER, PLEASE". Your edit took the entries out of alphabetical order, and introduced conflicting instructions about what order to use. Quadell 15:08, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Ah, nevermind, I see you've already taken care of that. Thanks! Quadell 15:23, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, I messed up there, and fixed right after I did that. So no problem now. \o/ — Tanvir | Talk ] 15:30, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
And about this, well, you can link to your enwiki user page, that's not a problem, but that link should be placed on your Meta user page, rather than your nomination page (which is the common practice AFAIK). And your condition about prerequisites are being judged by the tool automatically, all the links to check your contributions are global, so I thought link to the Meta user page is the better choice. However, if you like to see the link to your enwiki user page there, feel free to do so. It's not contradictory with election prerequisites at all. And my edit was just a good faith edit, nothing more. Good luck! — Tanvir | Talk ] 15:30, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for all your help! I'm really looking forward to the elections. All the best, Quadell 15:31, 23 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

About the adminstat tool

edit

Hello ! I need to have an array that describes every sysop actions. I have began there to show you the syntax :

$displayact = array ( 'delete' => "Deletions",
 'block' => "Blocks",
 'restore' => "Restored pages");

You will find some of the actions on this manuel page (but it is a bit old, 2009).

Here is a drop I did on the "metawiki_p" table :

+------------+
log_action
+------------+
upload
rights
delete
block
unblock
protect
unprotect
restore
move

move_redir
renameuser
newusers
create
create2
interwiki
patrol
modify
overwrite
lock
unlock
autocreate
groupperms
usergroups
hide
unhide
lockandhid
newset
setchange
setrename
setnewtype
groupprms2
groupprms3
gblock
gunblock
reblock
move_prot
revision
event
gblock2
setstatus
deleteset
hide-afl
+------------+

And here is one I did on the "frwiktionary_p" table :

+------------+
log_action
+------------+
delete
upload
block
restore
unprotect
protect
unblock
rights
move
move_redir
newusers
create
interwiki
create2
renameuser
modify
patrol
autocreate
reblock
overwrite
move_prot
revision
event
+------------+

If you do a second list for steward actions, I will be able to do a log for stewards actions only too (when you look on meta you have both stewards + local admins).

Thanks by advance :) -- Quentinv57 (talk) 12:16, 27 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Everything is done now. You should take a look to the Global Sysop Log, you will have a very nice surprise. Have a good night. Cheers ! -- Quentinv57 (talk) 20:26, 27 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

—Mayeenul Islam [ Talk ] 21:24, 28 August 2011 (UTC)Reply
