Welcome to Meta!
edit
Hello Wizardist!, and welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Wikimedia Forum (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). Happy editing! — Mikhailov Kusserow (talk) 03:32, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Re: December 2010 update
editThe language weight for the be: and be-x-old: was increased from 1.0 to 1.4 so that by itself will increase the score (and growth). There is some logic in the script that gives "awards" so it seemed unfair to include the slightly bogus be: +1.46 and be-x-old: +5:53 monthly growth numbers. Next month will be back to normal. --MarsRover 22:23, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
- OK, it makes sense. But it's unfair :) We worked really hard last month. Thanks. Wizardist 09:42, 2 December 2010 (UTC)
Translation Update
editI want to thank you for your help translating throughout this year's fundraiser. The fundraiser has greatly benefited from all your contributions. Currently, the Kartika, Liliaroja, Abbas and Joan Gomà appeals need to be translated, as we are running appeals from editors. You can find all translation requests at the translation hub on meta and you can follow the progress of the fundraiser in real time by tracking the fundraiser statistics. It is important to check the Core Messages as many languages still need updating. Also if you haven't already, you can subscribe to the translators-l mailing list for all new requests and major changes. Many thanks for your help in truly making this a global fundraiser that you can edit.Klyman 20:22, 7 December 2010 (UTC)
- You are welcome to edit slightly and set the "Ready" status for be-tarask version - http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising_2010/Abbas_Appeal/be --Da voli 22:11, 15 December 2010 (UTC)

Re: Translation Status
editHey Wizardist,
I am not entirely sure what the issue is. I noticed the problem yesterday. Ill see if I can try and talk with siebrand to try and work out what has caused the problem. It may be that the status's are stored in some part of the wikimedia namespace and it might be that its associated with the previous location of the translations. We had to do a bit of a patchwork fix to the jimmy translation and it may be that its broken those statuses. Ill get back to you though :) Jseddon (WMF) (talk) 16:23, 7 October 2012 (UTC)
Fundraising translation feedback
editHey Wizardist,
I wanted to ask for your help. As you may be aware we have been running banners on many language wikis. We have a lot of new content this year and I really want to conduct a thorough review of our translations. This is a combination of feedback from the community, readers, donors as well as those with professional translator experience. This will help us ensure the highest quality of translations used in our messaging.
To help us out with this I wonder if you would be willing to give us feedback for Russian using This Link
Simply follow the simple instructions on that page and if you have any questions feel free to contact me on my talk page.
Many Thanks
Jseddon (WMF) (talk) 09:42, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, although I speak Russian, I don't take active participation in Russian Wikipedia, and I seem to be an inappropriate reviewer. :( Wizardist (talk) 19:53, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
Re: Personal account rename notification
editYes, about 30 languages had it already translated, but I also asked proofreading and linked two other pages in need of help, so the message was relevant at least in part for everyone. It wasn't an accusation "you haven't done this!". Sorry if it bothered you. Nemo 14:05, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
- That's a good question, but I've no idea of what tool they're using. Nobody pointed out that it needs to consider fallbacks and dummy language codes, you may want to do so at Talk:Single_User_Login_finalisation_announcement and see what James says. --Nemo 15:11, 3 May 2013 (UTC)
IPBE assigned
editHi. We are having a bit of an issue with an IP range that you utilise. To prevent you getting caught by measures that the stewards are implementing, I have pro-actively granted you global IP block exemption. — billinghurst sDrewth 08:40, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hello, thank you for notifying me. Could you give some more detail, so that I could further notify Belarusian community, in case this is a Wikimedia-wide blockin. Thank you. Wizardist (talk) 22:25, 25 September 2013 (UTC)
Translate some names for hundreds software projects including MediaWiki
editHello, I'm writing you because you subscribed to a Language support team. As you know, Wikimedia projects exist in almost 300 languages; supporting them all is a big effort so we partner with other organisations. One small but visible thing we miss is that many interwiki links in sidebar (among others) don't offer a translation of the language name when hovered. We're now able to translate 100 more language names in your language.
If you're interested, I can create you an account to submit translations on the CLDR web tool (within June 14): please send an email to ask one and I'll follow up with instructions. On CLDR you can translate and tweak many other things, if you desire; your work will impact hundreds of software projects. Thanks, Nemo 17:58, 2 May 2014 (UTC)
Superprotect status
editDear Wizardist, since you are an administrator on a wiki from which no user participated in this discussion, I'd like to make sure you are aware of some recent events which may alter what the Wikimedia Foundation lets you do on your wiki: Superprotect.
- Request for comment: Requests for comment/Superprotect rights
- An open letter about its implementation: Letter to Wikimedia Foundation: Superprotect and Media Viewer
Should FuzzyBot remove all potentially outdated translations?
editHello, thanks for adding multiple new translations in your language here at Meta-Wiki in recent years. Please join the discussion with your opinion: Should FuzzyBot automatically remove all potentially outdated translations?. Nemo (talk) 12:01, 1 March 2016 (UTC)
