Welcome to Wiki Club AMU!
The following is a list of proposed/past events, meetups, and workshops organized by Wiki Club AMU. We aim to foster a collaborative environment for students, faculty, and enthusiasts to engage with Wikimedia projects, enhance their editing skills, and contribute to the global knowledge base. Our events are designed to cater to various interests, from photography and writing to technical skills and research. We welcome everyone to join us in these enriching activities and become a part of our vibrant community.
Proposed 12 Months Plan
editJune-July 2025 (Peak Summer Months):
- Online Webinar: Organize an expert-led webinar on Wikipedia’s article-writing rules, equipping members with best practices for creating and improving content.
- COT Meetup: Conduct a virtual Core Organizing Team (COT) meeting to review past initiatives and collaboratively plan for future events, factoring in the university’s new session beginning in August.
August-September 2025 (New Session):
- Orientation for Freshers: Host an orientation for new students, guiding them on creating Wikimedia accounts and introducing them to the movement's mission and platforms.
- Photowalk & Clickathon: Organize an on-the-spot “Clickathon,” where participants capture and upload photographs of AMU and its surroundings on Wikimedia Commons. Winners will be awarded, encouraging active participation and creativity.
October-November 2025:
- Skill-Building Workshops: Conduct “WikiWrite: Crafting Narratives” to enhance Wikipedia editing and content creation skills.
- Brainstorming Sessions: Host collaborative sessions with members and alumni to explore innovative ways of bridging content gaps, particularly AMU-related and underrepresented topics.
November-December 2025:
- Winter Wiki Fest Planning: Begin preparations for Winter Wiki Fest 2026, an interactive event designed to engage members with competitions and collaborative editing sessions.
- Community Review Session: Hold a year-end review meeting to reflect on the club’s annual achievements, gather feedback, and identify areas for improvement.
January-February 2026:
- WikiData Workshop: Train members in structured data contributions through targeted workshops, enhancing their technical capabilities on Wikimedia platforms.
- Mehfil-e-Wiki 2026: Celebrate the club’s accomplishments, recognize members’ contributions, and set goals for the coming year in this collaborative and interactive gathering.
March-May 2026:
- Open Outreach Workshop: Expand the club’s reach within the university by holding workshops to raise awareness about the Wikimedia movement and its benefits.
- “Wiki Chronicles” Project: Launch a storytelling initiative to document and share AMU’s heritage and untold stories on Wikimedia platforms, encouraging members to contribute creatively.
Ongoing Activities: Throughout the year, monthly COT meetings (alternating between online and offline formats) will ensure consistent communication, review progress, and strategize upcoming events. This timeline is designed to foster a thriving community of Wikimedia contributors, promote skill development, and establish sustainable practices for Wiki Club AMU’s long-term success.
