On 13 October 2024, Wiki Club AMU has hosted an event focused on the WIKIDATA-LABEL A THON. The session took place at 12:30 PM at BARISTA, and we were honoured to have Aafi who shared experiences from his Hyderabad journey, answered members' questions, discussed hackathons, grants, and Wikidata page creation. Moreover, he demonstrated practical data creation and addition steps on Wikidata.
This experience was a turning point in our path, as we now prioritize building our team's capacity before pursuing outreach initiatives. Members had a great chance to learn more about Wikidata and the broader free knowledge movement during the session, ensuring that we are prepared to mentor and encourage others in our community.
Learnings and key discussions

- Establish basic club structure and framework
- Focus on Wikidata (till Oct 31):
- Editing statements (one-liner edits)
- Create Wikidata items about notable authors (with linking library data via VIAF ID) - for Wikidata Sprint 2024.
- Enhance digital presence for the club through Diff and other movement channels.
- Enhance impact on university and students as well as develop COT's capacity
- Leverage mainstream alignment and uniqueness.
- Participate in Wiki contests (offline/online)
- Collaborate with other clubs
- Organize photography and training sessions
- Engage with Wikimedia Commons (from Nov)
