Wiki Loves Mother Tongue 2025 | Wiki Loves Mother Tongue 2024 | Wikitongues |
The 2025 International Mother Tongue Day theme, Make Languages Count for Sustainable Development, highlights the crucial role languages play in promoting cultural diversity, social inclusion, and economic growth. To celebrate this global event, the Wikitongues community, in collaboration with the Wikimedia community, is launching a multilingual campaign to promote language preservation and linguistic diversity. Through a series of edit-a-thons, language documentation workshops, and social media challenges, the communities aim to amplify marginalized voices, increase language representation on Wikimedia platforms, and showcase the importance of linguistic heritage in achieving sustainable development goals. By making languages count, the Wikitongues and Wikimedia communities are working together to foster a more inclusive and equitable world, where every language has a voice and a place in the digital landscape.
