How to move forward

What was this session about?

Speakers talked about some instances of organisations going against free licences. The general advice would be to look closer at every 'enemy', since some of might seem to share the same side but not really.

What are the next steps to be taken?

Participants of the session will hopefully look for partnerships outside of the “usual-suspects” list.

Three short stories followed by a discussion

Description

Our movement has an amazing track record in working (and fighting) with groups and organisations we have similar objectives with. If Wikimedia is to really break down the social, political, and technical barriers preventing people from accessing and contributing to free knowledge, we will also have to start working with organisations and groups we currently disagree with.

Desired Outcome

More Wikimedians look for partnerships outside of the “usual-suspects” list.

Next Steps and Milestones

At least three chapters/user-groups/individuals reach out to an organisation they normally disagree with and at least one of these contacts leads to a joint action.
