Prepare for your travel
edit- Check the entry requirements/travel advice for Germany on the website of your country's department of foreign affairs. If you require documents for immigration, please contact us via wmsummit@wikimedia.de.
- Review your travel plan and check if there are any entry requirements for your transit countries (Please specifically look for transit requirements.)
- Verify that checked baggage is included with your ticket (unless travelling with hand luggage is sufficient). Make sure you comply with the size and weight restrictions.
- Check-in online on the website of your airline. Please note that some low-cost airlines (e.g. Ryanair, easyjet, Wizz Air, airBaltic) do not allow you to check-in at the airport free of charge.
- Verify your flight times on your airline’s website shortly before your departure.
- Take an adapter (plug type F, Schuko plug) with you.
- Have all important travel documents as well as documents you might need for immigration in your carry-on bag.
- Arrive sufficiently early at the airport to have enough time to check-in and to go through the security check. We suggest arriving three hours before flight departure for international travel. Make sure to not miss your flight!
- Welcome to Berlin! In order to find your way from the airport/Central Station to the conference venue (Seminaris CampusHotel Berlin), please read the ‘How to get around’ section in the Conference Guide for directions. For a further map of the public transport services in Berlin please click here.
- Have a valid credit card or Euro (€) at hand, as you’ll need to purchase a public transport ticket to the conference venue (2,80 € / 3,40 €).
Should you experience any problems during your travel, do not hesitate to contact us (wmsummit@wikimedia.de). In emergencies please call +49 151 727 11 248 (Jana).
